Intermediate Learning & Development Trainer
Client: Government of Alberta (GoA) – Technology & Innovation
Project: Procurement System Modernization / 1GX Centre of Excellence
Location: Edmonton, AB – 9515 107 St, 4th Floor, Terrace Building
Work Arrangement: 100% Onsite – 5 days/week
Contract Hours: 36.25 hours/week, 7.25 hours/day
Contract: 1,805.25 hours
Work Hours: 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta time, Monday–Friday
Work Eligibility: Must work from within Canada
Key Responsibilities
- Lead government-wide 1GX training and outreach initiatives.
- Conduct learning needs analysis, audience/role assessment, and work-context analysis.
- Develop role-based training strategies and delivery approaches.
- Design and maintain instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, multimedia, digital adoption, job aids and performance-support solutions.
- Apply adult learning, instructional design, accessibility and user-centred design principles.
- Facilitate training for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Work with SMEs, business process owners, vendors, leadership and stakeholders.
- Manage multiple deliverables, dependencies, risks and stakeholder communications.
- Maintain training governance, QA, version control and accessibility.
- Evaluate training effectiveness using learner feedback, assessments, performance and adoption metrics.
- Use approved digital, multimedia, collaboration and AI-enabled tools.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to junior trainers.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
- University degree in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Business Administration or related field + 2 years related experience, OR diploma + 4 years experience, or equivalent.
- 2+ years learning needs analysis, audience/role assessment, work-context analysis and requirements gathering.
- 2+ years designing, developing, implementing and maintaining end-to-end learning solutions.
- 2+ years facilitating instructor-led and virtual training for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Conflict of Interest attestation required.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- WalkMe or comparable digital adoption platform.
- Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia, Canva, Vyond, Adobe or similar tools.
- Accessible e-learning, video, audio and multimedia development.
- Requirements gathering and stakeholder/SME management.
- AI-enabled instructional design and content development.
- Training evaluation, learner feedback and adoption metrics.
- ERP training: SAP, Oracle, Workday, 1GX, Finance, HCM, Payroll or Supply Chain.
