Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Pay Rate: $17.00 per hour
Hours: 32.5 paid hours per week
Schedule: Five (5) shifts per week
Shift: Day Shift – 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Positions Available: Multiple

Security Requirement: Reliability Status Clearance Required
About the Site
Dexterra Group is seeking Light Duty Cleaners to join our team at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for individuals who take pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments.
As a Light Duty Cleaner, you will be responsible for performing routine cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the facility while following established health, safety, security, and sanitation standards.
Dexterra Group provides cleaning services at the BIO site, where our team works together to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment.
Please note: Due to the nature of the site and the Government of Canada requirements, successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance.
Job Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the assigned facility
- Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and clean floors and other surfaces
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, common areas, offices, and designated spaces
- Empty waste and recycling bins and dispose of materials appropriately
- Restock washroom and cleaning supplies as required
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas
- Follow established cleaning procedures, schedules, and safety standards
- Safely use cleaning products, equipment, and supplies
- Report maintenance concerns, hazards, or damaged equipment to the appropriate supervisor
- Work collaboratively with team members to maintain consistent cleanliness standards
- Respect all site security and access requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and health and safety requirements
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position
- Positive and professional attitude
- Willingness to learn and contribute to a team environment
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required Reliability Status security clearance
