As a General Foreman (Mechanical) at IREN, you will lead the mechanical scope at our Prince George data center — overseeing the maintenance and reliability of piping, cooling systems, HVAC, and liquid-cooling infrastructure in a live, 24/7 mission-critical environment. Acting as IREN's on-site representative, you will coordinate subcontractors and technicians, verify that all work meets specification, manage daily mechanical schedules and materials, and foster a culture of safety and accountability across the site.

Job Requirements

• Red Seal Journeyman certification in a mechanical trade (Steamfitter/Pipefitter, Plumber, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
• 8–10 years in mechanical construction and/or maintenance, with at least 3 years as a foreman/supervisor.
• Hands-on experience with piping, HVAC, cooling systems, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment; liquid-cooling or industrial-cooling experience a strong asset.
• Experience maintaining data centers, industrial facilities, or mission-critical infrastructure preferred.
• Working knowledge of how mechanical systems integrate with electrical and controls (backup power, cooling, monitoring).
• Ability to read and implement mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Proven leadership of mechanical or multi-trade crews in live operational or maintenance environments.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Safety-first mindset with strong compliance focus.
• Organized and skilled at problem-solving.
• Collaborative approach across teams and disciplines.
• Adaptable to changing project conditions and priorities.
• Must be available to work the shift schedule: 2 weeks on, 1 week off.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all mechanical maintenance activities — piping, HVAC, cooling, refrigeration, and liquid-cooling systems — ensuring the reliability and uptime of a live, operational site.
• Act as IREN's owner's representative on site, verifying that subcontractor and technician work is executed to IREN's standards, specifications, and drawings.
• Plan and manage daily mechanical schedules, preventative maintenance, equipment usage, and materials.
• Respond to mechanical issues and unplanned outages, thinking critically to restore systems safely and efficiently.
• Lead and mentor field crews; foster a culture of safety and accountability.
• Supervise mechanical subcontractors to meet quality and schedule requirements.
• Coordinate with the Construction Superintendent and other discipline foremen.
• Champion IREN's safety culture and conduct toolbox talks and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with codes and regulations.

Compensation

• The hourly rate of pay range for this position is between $45–60 and is reflective of experience.
• Total package may be inclusive of a night shift premium for rotational shift positions.
• Living Out Allowance (LOA) and travel allowance for rotational site work.
