Financial Data Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Data Analyst to join our Corporate Finance team. This position will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving financial reports, dashboards, and analytical tools used by leadership to monitor budgets, actual results, forecasts, and key financial performance indicators.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting, advanced Excel skills, and hands-on experience with SQL, DAX, Power BI, and financial modeling. Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Jonas, and exposure to multi-currency and consolidated financial environments will be considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Finance team to understand business and financial data requirements and develop automated reporting solutions for monthly financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards for KPIs and key financial metrics using data from the Jonas ERP platform and other databases.
• Build and maintain comprehensive financial reporting packages, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements, for a multi-currency, consolidated organization with multiple subsidiaries and divisions.
• Utilize SQL and DAX to connect, transform, analyze, and report data across multiple databases and systems.
• Develop financial models and what-if scenario analyses to support business planning and decision-making.
• Analyze financial data, identify trends and variances, and provide meaningful insights to management.
• Work collaboratively with Finance team members to meet reporting deadlines and continuously improve financial reporting processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements, including the development of standard and ad-hoc reports, analytical tools, and Excel-based dashboards.
• Investigate and resolve outstanding financial issues, discrepancies, and unbalanced transactions.
• Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
• Ensure financial reports and analyses are accurate, timely, and aligned with applicable accounting standards and business requirements.
• Liaise regularly with members of the Senior Management Team and effectively communicate financial information, analysis, and recommendations.
• Support the Finance team with additional reporting and analytical requirements as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• 3 5 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, accounting, financial reporting, financial modeling, or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience developing financial statements, financial models, reports, and dashboards.
• Strong understanding and practical experience with the full accounting cycle.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis, reporting, and dashboard development.
• Strong working knowledge of SQL, DAX, and Power BI.
• Experience with financial reporting and analysis involving budgets, forecasts, and actual results.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS accounting principles, financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Experience working with accounting or ERP software; Jonas experience is an asset.
• Exposure to foreign exchange and multi-currency accounting is an asset.
• CPA designation or active CPA enrollment is an asset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a changing and complex business environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial information and respond effectively to questions from managers and senior leadership.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
• Thorough understanding of relevant Federal, Provincial, and local requirements relating to financial recordkeeping and retention.

Preferred Experience

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a multi-entity, multi-currency environment and be comfortable combining accounting knowledge with data analytics and business intelligence tools to improve financial reporting and decision-making.
