Assistant Manager, Transportation Operations on behalf of our client.
This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an experienced supervisor who enjoys leading teams, driving operational excellence, and improving service performance in a fast-paced transportation environment. You will oversee a team responsible for transportation reporting and operational support while ensuring service standards, compliance requirements, and operational targets are achieved.
You will play a key role in coaching employees, optimizing processes, supporting operational decision-making, and enhancing collaboration between internal stakeholders and frontline operations teams.

Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Employee Development- Lead, coach, mentor, and support a team of operational reporting specialists
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and employee development support
- Ensure team members have the skills, training, and resources required for success
- Support workforce planning and staffing requirements based on operational demand
Operations & Service Performance- Ensure accurate and timely operational reporting and information management
- Monitor team performance and service levels to achieve established operational objectives
- Identify service issues, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Support operational reliability through effective communication and process execution
- Assist in managing critical operational incidents and escalations
Continuous Improvement- Review operational processes, procedures, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement
- Develop and implement initiatives that improve efficiency, service quality, and stakeholder satisfaction
- Track workload trends and recommend operational improvements
- Support data-driven decision-making and performance reporting
Stakeholder & Labour Relations- Build strong relationships with operational teams and internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with frontline leadership to ensure consistency and alignment across operations
- Participate in investigations and support employee performance management processes
- Assist with labour relations activities, including grievance responses and policy interpretation
- Ensure compliance with collective agreements, company policies, and operational standards
Qualifications and Skills:- Minimum 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in: Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service Centre, Call Centre, Dispatch or Clerical Environments
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered a strong asset
- Transportation or railway industry experience is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking capabilities
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience analyzing operational performance metrics and implementing improvements
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
- Knowledge of transportation, rail operations, logistics, or supply chain operations is considered an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
