Job description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety Advisor to support field management and crew operations across project sites for our well established client in Calgary. Reporting directly to the HSE Manager, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining a top-tier Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management system. This role requires a hands-on professional capable of balancing field inspections, regulatory compliance, training, and incident response in a fast-paced environment.

Advantages
• Competitive compensation package
• Opportunities for career advancement
• Positive work environment

Responsibilities
• Field Oversight & Support: Conduct weekly field site visits and documented inspections, including yard, vehicle, PPE, and equipment checks. Support field supervisors with safety meeting frequencies, leading indicator tracking, and preliminary investigations.
• Compliance & Auditing: Serve as the lead internal auditor for Certificate of Recognition (COR) audits and prepare sites for successful external audits. Ensure work practices align with changing federal, provincial, and industry regulations.
• Safety Documentation & Platform Lead: Act as the administrator for SiteDocs to manage, review, and organize safety records, completed tailboard records, and incident reports.
• Training & Onboarding: Manage new hire safety orientations, drug & alcohol testing, tool/PPE distributions, and crew competency assessments. Schedule and track all required field crew safety certifications to avoid lapses.
• Incident Management: Lead root cause incident investigations, establish corrective action plans, and prepare "Lessons Learned" bulletins and client presentations.
• Site Planning: Establish site-specific emergency, environmental, and safety plans (e.g., fall protection, traffic control, critical lift, confined space, and grounding plans).

Qualifications
• 3–5 years of dedicated construction safety experience.
• Experience in the powerline or electrical utility sector is required.
• NCSO certification is required; CRSP designation is strongly preferred.
• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Studies preferred.
• Deep working knowledge of electrical safety, working at heights, rigging/cranes, confined spaces, ground disturbance, and occupational hygiene.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Earth. Hands-on experience using safety management platforms like SiteDocs.
• Strong presentation skills for delivering crew safety topics and building solid working relationships with regulatory bodies (WCB, construction associations).
