Job Summary

The Warehouse and Distribution Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of warehouse operations and distribution activities. This role requires a strong leader with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to optimize processes and resources to ensure efficient and timely delivery of products to both internal and external customers. The successful candidate will demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, including performing effectively under pressure during periods of increased operational demand.

Job Location

  • This position is located at our plant in Langley, BC.

Job Responsibilities

Warehouse Operations:

  • Supervise and coordinate all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, minimize costs, and maximize productivity.
  • Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Create, monitor and evaluate warehouse performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Support root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies, shipping errors, safety incidents, and customer complaints.
  • Ensure warehouse equipment is operational, inspected, and calibrated required, and coordinate preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
  • Partner with Production, Customer Service, Logistics, and Quality to improve service levels.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory control processes, including cycle counts, stock replenishment, and stock rotation.
  • Implement and maintain an effective inventory tracking system to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize stock outs.
  • Coordinate the preparation of transfers of goods to other warehouse locations.

Distribution and Logistics:

  • Supervise transportation activities ensuring timely delivery of goods to customers.
  • Supervise the logistics of outbound shipments, including carrier selection, route planning, and documentation.
  • Supervise delivery schedules and resolve any transportation or delivery-related issues.
  • Supervise receiving activities to ensure all incoming products are verified for quantity, condition, and documentation, and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
  • Support the RGA team by coordinating the warehouse investigation of customer complaints as required.

Team Management:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise warehouse staff, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork, motivation, and a strong commitment to safety, quality and efficiency.
  • Establish work schedules, assign tasks, manage timecards, and allocate resources effectively to meet operational goals.
  • Monitor labor productivity and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement training and development plans for team members.
  • Monitor employee training compliance and partner with Human Resources and Health & Safety teams to ensure mandatory training, certifications, and recertifications are completed on time.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Support internal and external audits, including ISO, CTPAT, customer audits, and other regulatory or quality compliance requirements.
  • Maintain warehouse documentation, records, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure corrective actions from audits are implemented and sustained.

Quantity of Work:

  • Provide clear priorities for warehouse staff.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and bin locations.
  • Oversee and participate in:

- ensuring accurate and timely picking and shipping of required customer orders and samples.

- maintenance of the warehouse and all inventories stored within.

- accurately recording date of receipt of all purchased goods received in and place into holding areas for proper inspection by Q.C. department.

- placing of all inspected goods into the correct locations in the warehouse.

- organization and storage of manufactured goods from the factory into the appropriate locations in the warehouse.

- ensuring all returned goods are accepted into the building with proper pre-approval.

- preparations of materials required for work orders as per the production schedule.

- return of all materials and components from production into the correct locations in the warehouse.

  • Load/unload outgoing and incoming shipments via the use of an electric pallet jack, standup reach truck forklift and sit down forklift.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement as well as lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Optimize and utilize the existing warehouse space to maximize throughput.

Quality of Work:

  • Drive productivity and efficiency by implementing best practices, streamlining processes, and optimizing resource allocation.
  • Set performance targets and monitor warehouse productivity metrics, such as order fulfillment rate, on-time delivery, and turnaround time inventory cycle counts.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to increase throughput and meet operational targets.

Job Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years prior shipping and receiving experience essential, including supervisory responsibilities preferred.
  • Good communication, mathematical, reading and writing skills are essential.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis, reporting).
  • Experience using ERP/WMS systems.
  • May require occasional lifting up to 25 lbs
