Overlanders Manufacturing is seeking an experienced and hands-on
Assembly Lead Hand to join our team in Abbotsford. This role is ideal for an individual with strong manufacturing and assembly experience who enjoys leading by example, supporting team members, and ensuring production targets are met safely and efficiently.As an Assembly Lead Hand, you will coordinate daily assembly activities, assist with training and mentoring employees, support quality and productivity goals, and work closely with supervisors to ensure smooth operations. This is a working lead role, meaning you will actively participate in assembly activities while helping guide the team.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Lead and support daily assembly activities to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Assign work and help prioritize tasks based on production demands.
- Train, mentor, and support assembly team members.
- Ensure employees follow company safety procedures and use proper PPE.
- Review work instructions, drawings, and production requirements with employees.
- Monitor quality standards and address assembly issues before products move to the next stage.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and help identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Shipping, and other departments as required.
- Assist with troubleshooting production and assembly challenges.
- Perform assembly duties and other hands-on manufacturing tasks as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
What We're Looking For:Successful candidates will have:
- Previous manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, or production experience.
- Previous Lead Hand, Team Lead, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, work instructions, and assembly documents.
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to train and mentor employees.
- Strong focus on quality, safety, and productivity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable performing physical work and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in sheet metal manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, or industrial manufacturing environments.
- Forklift certification or material handling experience.
- Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or 5S experience considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills and experience using production software or ERP systems is an asset.
Employment Details:- Pay: $25 - $30 per hour (based on experience).
- Shift: Day Shift, Monday to Friday.
- Location: Abbotsford, BC.
- Full-time permanent position.
