Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:Safety & SecurityPromote a safe and secure campus environment for students, staff, families, and visitors.Conduct regular security patrols of the building and grounds.Open, secure, and monitor school facilities as required.Respond appropriately to safety, security, and emergency situations.Monitor visitor access and support school access control procedures.Identify hazards and coordinate timely corrective action with the Director of Business Services or Associate Director: Facilities and Health & Safety, as appropriate.Provide a visible and approachable presence throughout the campus to promote safety, security, and positive interactions with students, staff, families, and visitors.Traffic ControlAssist with student pick-up traffic to ensure safe and efficient vehicle and pedestrian movement.Direct traffic during peak dismissal times.Monitor parking lots for safety and compliance.Coordinate traffic flow during school events and special activities.Support emergency dismissal procedures when required.Event & Community SupportEnsure renters are using space and equipment in an appropriate manner.Prepare facilities for school events, performances, meetings, athletic competitions, and community rentals.Set up furniture, staging, signage, and other event requirements.Provide operational support during evening and weekend events as required.Ensure facilities are returned to operational readiness following events.Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, volunteers, and external users to deliver successful events.Campus OperationsRespond promptly to operational requests from staff while maintaining a positive, solutions-focused approach.Perform daily campus walkthroughs to ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and operational.Complete minor maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance within scope of training.Identify facility deficiencies and submit maintenance requests.Assist community renters while ensuring compliance with school procedures.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).Experience in facilities operations, campus operations, security, hospitality, or a related field is considered an asset.Experience working in a school, recreation, hospitality, customer service, or other public-facing environment is preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AttributesThe successful candidate will demonstrate:Friendly, approachable, and professional interactions with students, families, staff, visitors, and contractors.Ability to remain calm, courteous, and solutions-focused in fast-paced situations.Professional communication and relationship-building abilities.Sound judgement and the ability to remain calm under pressure.Strong organizational and time management skills.Commitment to workplace safety.Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.Physical ability to safely lift, move, and set up equipment required for events.Hours of Work The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, generally 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., although flexibility is required to support school events, performances, rentals, and operational needs. Occasional weekend work may be required. During the summer months, the successful candidate may transition to daytime hours to support campus projects and auxiliary programming.The successful candidate will need to provide an updated Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to commencing work. CompensationSalary Range: $34,500 to $39,000 depending on experience and relevant skills.This position offers: Comprehensive employee group benefits and the RSP (Retirement Saving Plan) benefit. Two (2) weeks off in December when the school is closed, plus three (3) weeks of paid vacation.
