Job description

Adecco is currently hiring a Disability Management & Return to Work Coordinator for a 5 year contract opportunity in Sudbury, ON. This role is ideal for an experienced disability management professional with expertise in WSIB case management, return-to-work programs, and occupational health legislation. If you are passionate about supporting employees through safe and sustainable return-to-work initiatives while ensuring legislative compliance, this is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team.

In this position, you will coordinate occupational and non-occupational disability claims, manage return-to-work programs, liaise with employees and healthcare professionals, and provide expert guidance on workplace disability management and legislative compliance.

  • Pay Rate: $85,000 - $100,000/year
  • Location: Sudbury, ON (Relocation assistance considered)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday | Day Shift
  • Employment Type: Full-Time | 5 year contract

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of WSIB claims and non-occupational disability cases from initial reporting through successful return to work.
  • Monitor workplace injuries and absences to facilitate early, safe, and sustainable return-to-work (ESRTW) programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with employees, supervisors, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders throughout the disability management process.
  • Review medical documentation and assess employee capabilities to support appropriate return-to-work plans.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential disability management records and documentation.
  • Coordinate and administer individualized return-to-work programs in collaboration with supervisors, unions, healthcare providers, and Human Resources.
  • Act as the primary liaison between employees, WSIB, insurance providers, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at WSIB appeals, hearings, and Income Protection Plan hearings, including preparing documentation, evidence, legal research, and witness examinations.
  • Participate in grievance resolution processes in collaboration with Human Resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, including the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Employment Standards Act, and Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation supporting legislative and organizational compliance.
  • Develop and deliver educational sessions for employees and managers on disability management, return-to-work policies, WSIB requirements, and human rights obligations.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing training related to disability management programs.
  • Support the organization's Attendance Awareness Program by providing guidance and resources to supervisors and employees.
  • Identify opportunities to improve disability management processes and return-to-work outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • College Diploma in Social Services, Nursing, Human Resources, or another related discipline from a recognized Canadian institution.
  • Certification in Disability Management is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience managing WSIB claims, disability management, and non-occupational absences.
  • Experience working within a large unionized environment is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), and Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC).
  • Experience representing employers during WSIB appeals and hearings.
  • Strong case management, medical management, and return-to-work planning experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using PeopleSoft, Parklane, or similar case management systems is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Parklane software system is considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
