Communities have effective, just, humane practices that support positive social outcomes. ___________________________________ About the role Under the supervision of the Program Manager, or designate, the Caseworker will be responsible for helping clients register and complete their applications to the Fine Option Program. What you\'ll do Caseworker duties include the following responsibilities: Register all persons referred to the local office under the Fine Option Program. Assist with the solicitation of new applicants and community partnerships. Locate appropriate placement for program participants. Monitor placement agencies to assure their suitability for the program, and client satisfaction. Complete reporting and documentation as required by program and funder. Perform other related duties as needed. Maintain confidentiality. Other Requirements This role involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and occasional driving throughout the workday. Candidates must be able to move safely between work areas and perform routine office tasks efficiently. The position also requires the ability to climb stairs when working in community settings and visiting partner organizations. The position requires the ability to regularly push and pull filing drawers and retrieve, organize, and store paper files and documents. Successful candidates will possess the physical mobility, stamina, and flexibility to safely perform these duties while maintaining an organized and productive work environment. Knowledge, Skills and Assets: Working knowledge of the Mission, Vision and Values of the John Howard Society of Saskatchewan. Working knowledge of the characteristics of disadvantaged persons. Working knowledge of Restorative Justice and Harm Reduction practices. Understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action. Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills. Exceptional writing and case management skills. Strong verbal skills and the ability to communicate professionally. Resourceful, flexible, and well organized. Professional, responsive, and a positive work attitude. Ability to make sound, timely, and accurate judgment while navigating crisis. Ability to work independently. Must maintain a positive relationship with clients, other staff, businesses, and government agencies. Demonstrate empathy for those impacted by the Criminal Justice System. Qualifications Education: Secondary education from Saskatchewan Polytechnic or Community Colleges or University Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or minimum 1 year of practical experience working with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues including homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare Practical Experience: Working knowledge and experience with individuals impacted by socio-economic issues, including: homelessness, trauma, addiction, mental health, poverty, and the child welfare system. Working with a range of diverse clients, indiscriminate of: age, gender, sexual orientation, abilities, socio-economic status, religious preference, etc. Other: First Aid/CPR, ASIST, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe would be considered an asset. Valid / Insurable Saskatchewan Driver\u2019s License, insurable to drive clients in JHSS-owned vehicles. Cleared Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check, completed three (3) months prior to start date. Capability: Computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) Requires flexibility and availability to work Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional Information The above statements reflect general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as the detailed description of all work assignments that may be inherent to the position.
