Job Information Are you a strategic leader with a passion for data, research, and evidence-based decision-making? The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking an experienced and innovative Territorial Statistician to lead the Northwest Territories Bureau of Statistics and serve as the territory's senior authority on official statistics.
In this influential role, you will guide the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of statistical information that supports government decision-making, policy development, and program planning across the Northwest Territories. You will also represent territorial interests at national statistical tables and work closely with Statistics Canada and other jurisdictions to advance the territorial statistical agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the Northwest Territories Bureau of Statistics and oversee the GNWT's official statistical program.
Provide strategic statistical analysis and advice to support government decision-making, policy development, and planning.
Direct the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of accurate and relevant territorial data.
Represent the GNWT on national statistical committees and maintain partnerships with Statistics Canada and other jurisdictions. Manage the Bureau's staff, budget, projects, and resources while promoting collaboration, innovation, and professional excellence.
Key Qualifications
A Master's degree in economics, statistics, or another field with a focus on quantitative methods, 10 years of experience in a statistical or research environment, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
Equivalent Education:
Master's degree Mathematics, with a significant focus on quantitative methods, statistical analysis, and research methodologies.
Equivalent Experience:
Experience providing statistical analysis, evidence based recommendations, and strategic advice to senior management, executives, or decision makers
Experience leading or managing a statistical, research, analytics, economics, or data science function within a government, academic, or large organizational setting.
Experience applying advanced quantitative methods, statistical modelling, forecasting, survey methodology, or data analysis to support organizational decision making.
