Marketing Director in Toronto - Merrithew

CAD $140-150k (experience dependent)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Hybrid, across Merrithew's downtown Toronto and Scarborough offices. Our client is Merrithew, the Toronto-founded global fitness and wellness brand behind STOTT PILATES, ZEN GA, Align Pilates, Total Barre, CORE Athletic Conditioning and Halo Training. Founded in 1988 and now with a network of instructors trained in more than 135 countries, they're looking for a Marketing Director to own sales enablement, distributor marketing and outbound campaign strategy across the brand portfolio. This is an established role being reopened and reshaped rather than a turnaround, and that distinction matters. The team is capable, the brand is respected worldwide, and the role has simply never been pushed to its full potential, which leaves the incoming Marketing Director with an unusual amount of room to set the agenda. Merrithew's marketing leadership are open about seeing this as a stepping stone into a VP position for the right generalist, so it suits someone who wants scope now and a clear route upward. On offer is CAD $140-150k, real autonomy over strategy and priorities, and a leadership team who view this seat as future VP pipeline. Working pattern:

Full-time, hybrid, typically two to three days a week on site as needed across the downtown Toronto and Scarborough offices. International travel is minimal and not expected to be a regular requirement. Key responsibilities:

Sales enablement: Arming the enterprise sales team with polished, templated materials that shorten deal cycles and land consistently. Distributor marketing: Building the comms, tools and assets that keep the global distributor network aligned and well supported. Outbound campaigns: Owning campaign strategy end to end and coaching writers to think like customers rather than take orders. Team leadership: Leading a team of around six, spanning a UK-based marketing manager, a senior content manager, content writers, a content specialist and a marketing coordinator. Cross-functional facilitation: Acting as project owner across the wider function, working closely with the directors of digital marketing, e-commerce, product marketing, events and sponsorships, and creative. Go-to-market partnership: Partnering with product marketing on launch lift and distribution to make sure new programmes land properly in market. About you:

Senior marketing background: Already operating at director or senior manager level, as this is not a role to cut your teeth in. Consumer and premium brand experience: Essential, and purely B2B profiles won't be the right fit here. Sales fluency: You understand the funnel, you speak the sales team's language, and you think like a customer. Multi-brand exposure: Experience managing marketing across more than one brand is a strong advantage. Agency and in-house mix: A blend of both is ideal, and any background in fitness, wellness or hospitality is a bonus rather than a requirement. Ownership mindset: Entrepreneurial, big-picture, and genuinely believes marketing drives revenue. What's in it for you:
