Job description
Hiring Salary Range:$92,231 - $100,127 (FTE annual) Purpose:

In advancing the Division of Students' vision as Partners in Student Success, the Residence Life Community Case Manager is responsible for the delivery of community development, resident support, and crisis response within York Apartments, a distinct graduate and mature student residential community. The role integrates residence life programming with regulated professional social work practice to address the complex and high-stakes needs of this population. Reporting to the Director, Residence Life, and working closely with Director of Housing & Conference Services, the Residence Life Community Case Manager applies a professional social work lens to conduct risk assessments, crisis triage, safety planning, and coordinated referrals for residents experiencing mental health crises, financial precarity, and personal safety concerns. As a Registered Social Worker (RSW), the incumbent operates within established ethical, legal, and professional standards, ensuring accountable, consistent, and defensible interventions. The scope of the role is primarily focused on York Apartments residents, with clearly defined escalation pathways and collaboration with campus partners. The role does not function as a general undergraduate case management resource but may provide limited, escalated support in alignment with defined protocols. The role contributes to a safe, inclusive, and supportive residential environment while mitigating institutional risk and supporting student wellbeing and retention. The role is live-in which requires availability on weekends and evenings, and to be on-call 24 hours on a rotational basis. The role demonstrates a commitment to the values of creating student success: Care, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Innovation, Effectiveness, and Inclusion. Education:

Bachelor's degree in social work. Registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Registered Social Worker (RSW). Experience:

4 years of related experience. Related residence life live-in leadership experience, with exposure to a broader student life perspective including Decolonization, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Experience creating supportive environments fostering mental health and wellbeing with diverse communities. Experience supporting students with mental health issues across diverse communities. Skills:

Knowledge

Knowledge of OHS Act and Regulations and York University's health and safety procedures applicable to the workplace. Knowledge of applicable language as defined within collective agreements. Mental health training/knowledge. Knowledge of student development and leadership theory or other related theories. Knowledge of post-secondary residence and campus life. Skills

Leadership, coaching, and team building skills. Effective communication skills. Able to effectively apply initiative, work independently and in a team environment. Effective organizational, interpersonal, and cross-cultural sensitivity skills. Conflict mediation, problem solving and crisis management skills. Demonstrated expertise in crisis triage, risk assessment, and safety planning within complex, high-stakes environments. Thorough working knowledge of professional social work standards, including ethical decision-making, confidentiality, and duty to report (OCSWSSW framework). Ability to navigate and coordinate across institutional and community systems (e.g., housing, mental health, safety services) while maintaining clear scope boundaries. Effective analytical and research skills. Proficient with Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Additional Notes:

Normal office environment. Flexibility in hours and days of work based on on-call rotation schedule is required. *Compensation:

York's CPM Compensation Framework has a salary grid consisting of 6 or 8 steps (depending on job grade) which is reviewed annually with possible adjustments, and a lump sum Performance Based Recognition Award.
