RSD Trucking Service is located at Vernon, BC V1T 8T6. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Driver, truck. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible. The open positions are for Permanent employment or Full time job. The candidate must be willing to work shift schedules and flexible hours, and must be willing to work overtime when required.

The candidate must demonstrate expertise in mountain driving. The candidate must demonstrate professionalism in customer service. The candidate must drive lighter, special purpose trucks. The candidate must load and unload goods. The candidate must operate and drive straight or articulated trucks in order to transport goods and materials. The candidate must perform brake adjustments. The candidate must be able to perform emergency roadside repairs. The candidate must perform preventive maintenance. The candidate will be responsible for receiving and relaying information to central dispatch. The candidate will be responsible for tarping and ensuring cargo safety and security.

Job Requirements The candidate should be fluent in the English language. There are no standard education requirements, such as a bachelor’s degree, a certificate, or a diploma. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years of experience in a related industry. The candidate must hold an Air Brakes Endorsement, an Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, and a valid Class 1 or A driver’s licence. The candidate must be able to handle weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs). The candidate should have efficient interpersonal skills. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate should be organized and flexible. The candidate should have good judgmental skills. The candidate should be reliable. The candidate should be a good team player.

Work setting The candidate must work in various locations to support employees stationed at different worksites.

Experience and specialization Documentation knowledge The candidate must be knowledgeable about accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbooks, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, and trip reports.

Type of trucking and equipment The candidate must have experience in operating tractor-trailer B-train trucks. The candidate must have experience operating Citizens Band (CB) radios, GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, as well as using a trip recorder (on-board computer).

Transportation/travel experience The candidate must have transportation and travel experience at the provincial/territorial levels. The candidate must have short-haul travel experience.

Additional information Security and safety The candidate must undergo a driving record check (abstract).

Transportation/travel information The candidate must have a valid driver’s licence. The candidate must be willing to travel for extended periods of time.

Work conditions and physical capabilities The candidate should have an eye for detail. The candidate should be required to handle heavy loads as part of routine work. The candidate must perform physically demanding tasks as part of their daily work. The candidate should be required to perform repetitive tasks frequently. The candidate should be willing to work for long hours in sitting positions.
