Job description
Encore Auctions is proud to say they are Canada's largest online auction of new, returned, undeliverable and overstocked items from several major online retailers.

Every week, thousands of bidders have the opportunity to acquire an extensive variety of products, sometimes at a fraction of the retail price! It is an engaging, adrenaline-fueled experience that never fails to delight. Whether you are a new bidder or a seasoned one, every auction is new and exciting!

This is a hands‑on HR position responsible for providing comprehensive support throughout the employee lifecycle. As a trusted resource for both leaders and employees, you will help ensure our people practices remain consistent, compliant, professional, and employee‑focused.

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will manage key HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, payroll support, benefits administration, and workplace health and safety. This position will play an important role in attracting strong candidates, improving employee engagement and retention, and adapting HR programs to support the company’s continued growth.

Encore Auctions is a growing and innovative online auction company that connects buyers and sellers through a fast‑moving digital marketplace. We are committed to operational excellence, efficient processes, and providing an exceptional customer experience.

What You’ll Be Doing Recruitment and Workforce Planning Manage recruitment from job posting through to offer and onboarding for a wide range of positions. You will work closely with department leaders to strengthen hiring decisions, improve employee retention, and anticipate future staffing requirements. You will also identify new candidate sources and explore government‑funded employment and hiring programs.

HR Administration, Systems and Compensation Serve as the primary resource for HR systems, employee records, and related processes. You will support accurate payroll administration, coordinate employee benefits, maintain confidential employee information, and help ensure HR operations run efficiently and in accordance with applicable requirements.

Workplace Health, Safety and Compliance Support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of company policies and health and safety programs. You will help coordinate training, monitor compliance, and identify opportunities for improvement, with particular attention to the needs of our warehouse and frontline teams.

Onboarding, Performance and Employee Development Coordinate onboarding and performance management processes designed to help employees become engaged, productive, and successful. You will also provide managers with guidance on setting expectations, addressing performance concerns, delivering feedback, and supporting employee development.

Employee Relations and HR Guidance Provide practical, fair, and consistent advice to employees and managers. This includes assisting with workplace concerns, conducting investigations, resolving employee relations matters, and supporting organizational changes while balancing employee needs with business priorities.

What You Bring to the Team You have post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline. A CHRP designation, or active progress toward obtaining one, is strongly preferred.

You bring at least five years of practical HR Generalist experience, ideally gained in a busy, operational setting such as warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, or retail. Your experience includes full‑cycle recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, WSIB‑related matters, and HR systems.

You have a strong working understanding of Ontario employment standards and occupational health and safety legislation, along with the ability to interpret and apply workplace policies fairly and consistently. Experience working with HRIS and payroll platforms is required, as is careful attention to record accuracy, confidentiality, and process efficiency.

You demonstrate sound professional judgment, discretion, and a strong commitment to ethical HR practices. Organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing competing priorities, you are able to succeed in a fast‑paced and hands‑on workplace. You build credible working relationships with employees and leaders at all levels while balancing people‑focused solutions with the needs of the business.

Compensation and Benefits Salary: $62,000–$72,000 per year

A competitive benefits package and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) are available following three months of continuous employment.

Encore Auctions is an equal opportunity employer and provides accommodation for job applicants in accordance with the Human Rights Code and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). If you are an individual with a disability and you need accommodation in order to apply for this position, please contact the Human Resources Manager.
