Summary

Join our team as a LicensedPractical Nurse (LPN) where youll providecompassionate person-centredcare while workingcollaboratively with aninterdisciplinary thisrole youll assess plan implement andevaluate resident/patientcare advocate forindividual needs andsupport overallhealth and well-being. Youll practiceto the fullscope of LPNstandards contribute tocare planning mentornew staff andstudents and makea meaningful impactin a supportiveand collaborativeenvironment.

Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health the BC Nurses Union (BCNU) and health organizations across British Columbia mNPR provides a consistent and transparent approach to staffing that supports safe nursing practice and high-quality patient care. At Providence Health Care (PHC) our approach to implementing mNPR reflects our commitment to person-centred socially just compassionate care and our dedication to Indigenous cultural safety. What You Bring

Education

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant. Current basic cardiac life support certification.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to teach and identify patient/resident learning needs.

Your Day to Day:

  • Deliversafe compassionate person-centred nursing carein accordance withLPN standards andindividualized care plans.
  • Perform comprehensive patient/resident assessments monitorchanges in condition and communicate concernsto the careteam.
  • Administer medications (excluding IV) monitor therapeutic effects and carry outphysician orders accurately.
  • Develop implement evaluate and document nursingcare plans andinterventions.
  • Collaborate with physiciansand the interdisciplinaryteam to supportquality patient/residentcare and dischargeplanning.
  • Prepare and supportpatients/residents foradmissions transfers proceduresand discharges.
  • Educate patients/residentsand families promoteinformed decision-making and advocate fortheir physical emotional cultural andspiritual needs.
  • Respond appropriately toemergencies incidentsand safetyconcerns while followingestablished reporting procedures.
  • Mentor and supportnew staff andstudents by sharingclinical knowledge andbestpractices.
  • Participate in careconferences team meetings quality improvement initiatives and maintain asafe organized careenvironment.
