Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Business Partner, Midstream and Corporate, the Sr. Manager, Human Resources Business Partner plays a key leadership role in shaping and delivering people strategies that enable business success. Partnering with senior leaders across Nutrien's corporate and midstream functions, this position provides strategic HR leadership in support of organizational growth, talent development, change management, and workforce effectiveness. This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide initiatives and drive meaningful business outcomes through people.

This position may be based in either Calgary, AB or Saskatoon, SK.

What You'll Do:

  • In partnership with global functional leadership teams, create, implement, and guide the human resources priorities and key performance indicators (KPI) in support of the functional strategic roadmap
  • Serve as an unbiased consultant to the business to mitigate risk to the company by ensuring fair treatment and a balanced approach for those impacted by the implementation of new policy, procedures, and/or organizational change, problem resolution and human capital decisions
  • Consult with leaders to anticipate future human capital requirements based on business, industry, and market conditions
  • Provide advanced HR expertise to client groups as it pertains to Total Rewards (salary, incentives, benefits, pension), Talent Acquisition, Organizational Effectiveness, and Leadership & Employee Development
  • Anticipate the impact that new or cyclical HR initiatives will have on the client groups and work with leaders to implement and execute them accordingly
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge around HR initiatives and policies and leverage the Center of Expertise (COE), external data, and leading best practice
  • Utilizing change management philosophy, advise and guide client group leaders when designing future state changes (people, process, and structure), prepare change and communication plans, and engage with leaders to execute
  • Apply critical thinking and thought leadership to diagnose complex performance issues and work with business leaders to prepare solutions and support implementation
  • Take a lead role in the implementation of HR initiatives and projects within the business function
  • Work with client groups to champion the enterprise culture of continuous improvement by ensuring the appropriate talent and succession structure, engagement model, performance management, and recognition systems are in place

What You'll Bring:

  • Undergraduate Degree specializing in Human Resource (HR) Management
  • Professional designation (CHRP, SHRM) is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR business partnering work experience with proven career growth path in a global organization
  • Proven leadership capability gained through 4+ years of direct people leadership
  • Awareness of the Agriculture and Chemical industry practices and cycles would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Human Resource governance practices across the geographical locations of Nutrien – particularly in North America
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams by setting clear expectations, fostering collaboration, and driving accountability
  • Experience with large ERP systems (Success Factors preferred, but not imperative) and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours to support business clients
  • Experience in a fast-paced growth environment, providing strategic direction from a human resource standpoint
  • Experience with problem solving in complex projects that have a company-wide impact
  • Experience with North American human resource practices preferably in a multi-location environment
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical human resource initiatives
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage, influence, and present to individuals across different disciplines and levels of the organization
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including relationship-building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to business clients and peers with diverse levels of expertise
