The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is a registered charity and has been operating for over 150 years. The Society provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need in communities across Ontario; we value all animals and advocate to treat them with respect and kindness. We strive to keep pets and families together and do so through a variety of community support services.
Our core values include having compassion for the people and animals we serve. Being transparent with the individuals we interact with every day and the team members we work with. Each day striving for excellence in relation to animal welfare. Collaborating with one another to ensure a team spirit in caring for the animals. We take accountability for our actions and the impact we are making in pet-related care. All our values add up to ensure the upmost care, comfort and compassion and to treat the animals and the communities we serve with respect and kindness.
No on-call! Have work/life balance! Help to make a difference in the lives or animals without the long hours and with limited public interaction. Be part of an energetic team environment with others who share your passion for animal wellbeing!
As a Veterinarian you will have direct impact on reducing the pet population and supporting our purpose of keeping pets and people together. In addition to having centres across the province, the Ontario SPCA operates spay/neuter and wellness clinics, SPCA Mobile Animal Wellness Services unit, and hosts MASH-style clinics to bring routine care and spay/neuter services to underserved communities. We also find loving homes for thousands of animals each year at our animal centres across the province - animals who depend on the compassion of a veterinary care team to bring them back to health so they can get their second chance.
We are seeking an experienced, licensed, full-time Veterinarian in a hybrid role responsible for supporting Ontario SPCA Provincial Animal Centres with medical oversight and support for both individual medical cases and population-based medicine cases. Registered veterinarians work under the direction of the Medical Director and VP, Operations, supporting the maintenance of preventative health programs and shelter medicine protocols. Delivery of care is provided through a hybrid model of telemedicine services as well as on-site visits. Species supported primarily include cats and dogs, but opportunities to support small animals and birds are also available.
We wish to thank all applicants for their interest in the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
