Industrial Electrician (Afternoon Shift)

Role and Responsibilities As the Industrial Electrician, you will be responsible for the programming, debugging, installation and startup of existing or new production equipment from the perspective of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls. Responsible for the accuracy of equipment documentation in terms of obtaining and updating preventative maintenance records, technical reference manuals, instructions and electrical schematics required to service plant equipment in a timely manner. The hours for this role will be Mon-Fri, 3:30pm to Midnight.

Maintain all production and related equipment; modify existing equipment; and install new equipment/systems/components as required.

Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment system faults, ensure adequate control and safety measures are working and enforced. Enlist OEM as required.

Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.

Read and interpret equipment blueprints, schematics, manuals and/or work orders to perform required maintenance and service.

Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities or outsource as needed, both electrical and simple mechanical.

Keep detailed maintenance records (CMMS system, and ESA logbook).

Experience in wiring layouts for new or existing installations. (i.e. install, replace and repair lighting fixtures, electrical control equipment and distribution equipment. This includes switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.

Maintain, repair, test, program and install electrical motors, hydraulics, pneumatic electrical control systems, sensors, and variable frequency drives.

Familiar with electrical power distribution system equipment.

Performs troubleshooting, repair and maintenance to simple control networks.

Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations, including budgeting, design, scheduling, and procurement.

Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC programming (Controllogix & Micrologix), troubleshooting and modifications.

Updating electrical drawings and documentation to reflect system upgrades and modifications

Maintain strict compliance to safety rules and procedures.

Knowledge of applicable electrical codes (Ontario), standards, and regulations.

Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Core Competencies

College degree/diploma/program in Electronics, Automation, Trade or similar.

Certificate of Qualification from an accredited college/trade program (Ontario 309A, 309D or 442) an asset.

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment; previous experience in a metal working facility is an asset.

Demonstrated proficiency reading and interpretation of schematics, both North American and European, and have a full understanding of Feedback devices, Relay logic, Electronics, PLC (Allen Bradley and Siemens), and Motor controls both VFD’s and direct drive.

Demonstrated diagnostic troubleshooting ability.

Mechanical, electrical/electronic experience and training.

Pneumatic and hydraulic control experience.

Experience with PLC/CNC controlled machinery.

Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word and Windows O/S.
