The position will be responsible to direct and manage Air Canada Line Maintenance Operations Western. Responsibilities are broad and complex and include overall responsibility to coordinate and manage the Maintenance activities required to provide safe, serviceable aircraft that meet operational requirements while satisfying Transport Canada and the company's high standards of airworthiness. The individual is responsible to manage resources that meet the assigned workload and corporate schedule with key objectives; improve station performance, improve productivity, and reduce out of service time.

These responsibilities include financial analysis and performance management of the Western Base maintenance operations. The incumbent is also responsible for subsequent development of solutions and identification of opportunities to improve operational and financial performance of the region. The role will maintain and develop the level of qualifications, training and competency of Line Maintenance personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs and oversees all areas of contract maintenance related to both financial, and performance of all customers supported by Air Canada at Western stations
  • Accountable to ensure company safety standards are maintained and adhered to protect employees and property.
  • Accountable for improving productivity and efficiency to ensure the accomplishment of all planned Western maintenance
  • Accountable to ensure that Western stations provide the manhours, skills and tooling needed for accomplishment of daily planned maintenance assigned
  • Responsible to manage and control Line Maintenance budgetary costs and revenues for All Western stations.
  • Oversee all maintenance including third party maintenance and AOG support.
  • Manage, plan and control aircraft maintenance as it is performed.
  • Oversee the maintenance and development of qualifications, competencies and training for teams at each Western station.
  • Accountable for all aircraft visits, timelines and ensuring on-time-performance targets are met at all Western stations
  • Owns continuous improvement of maintenance processes for the region and to develop meaningful performance measurements.
  • Communicates expectations to accomplish workload requirement in an effective manner for accomplishment of planned maintenance with respect to P1, P2 and P3 prioritization.
  • Responsible for production capabilities by managing the Operational Leadership Team.
  • Responsible for development of leadership capabilities of the Western Operational Leadership team.
  • Directs and oversees the Western Line Maintenance Administration team
  • Accountable to ensure deviations, planned tasks, and unscheduled maintenance activities are accomplished to meet schedule of Western region
  • Accountable for Quality Audit Compliance in All Western Stations
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with Maintenance Operations Control and Fleet Management to resolve conflicts related to maintenance activities.
  • In collaboration with Corporate Real Estate, has accountability to ensure the Western Line Maintenance facilities are suitable for Line Maintenance personnel and activities and is responsible for all Western station CRE enhancements, upgrades and projects
  • Leverages relationships and influence with Quality Assurance, Stores, and Tooling to increase productivity cross functionally.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationship with Airports and ensure towing and service levels are met
  • Be knowledgeable and remain current with ongoing industry best practices. Drive changes to achieve new business tactics and strategies in order to minimize the cost and ensure AC's Western Line Maintenance Operation is continuously improving.
  • Be accountable for recognizing, developing, and engaging talent in order to achieve high level of performance and to breed success.
  • Have a sound understanding of Collective Agreements, develop and maintain effective and productive relationships within the work unit, and with union representatives.
  • Resolve issues, problems and differences with tact and a sense of urgency.
  • Conduct effective and efficient manager meetings.
  • Liaise with third party maintenance contracts.
  • Foster strong rapport with internal & external customers to create and deliver quality products & services
  • Oversight of YVR with large A station capabilities, including A checks, Engine changes, routine work, etc.
  • Oversight of YYC including support of all fleet types from narrow body to wide body, including A checks, Engine changes etc.
  • Oversight of YWG maintenance with facilities and hangar maintenance up to A check, engine changes etc.
  • Oversight of YEG, B station maintenance

The individual will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, applicable laws, and procedures. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding, implement motivational strategies, developing and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in a global airline environment, with demonstrated success in all areas of responsibility mentioned.
  • Familiar with a variety of the industry’s concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Capable of relying on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Capable of performing a variety of tasks.
  • Leads and directs the work of others.
  • Strong orientation towards change management and passionately focused on measurable results.
  • Must be able to communicate Line Maintenance objectives clearly and convey the benefits to the organization.
  • Must be knowledgeable and have experience with planning and forecasting systems.
  • Must possess excellent and demonstrable project management skills and experience in delivering large projects.
