Senior Litigation Legal Assistant - National Law firm

Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Civil and Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant for its client, a national law firm based in downtown Montreal.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Editing and formatting documents;

• Transcribing documents from tapes, handwritten notes, and telephone messages;

• Comparing documents using Workshare;

• Editing and formatting basic procedures and standard memos;

• Communicating with bailiffs regarding service, filings, deadlines, etc.;

• Communicating with court reporters to book their services;

• Communicating with the court to obtain various information required for files;

• Keeping various calendars up to date: court calendar, electronic calendar, and tracking deadlines to ensure timely filings;

• Calculating deadlines;

• Updating files and finalizing procedures (endorsements, copies, exhibits, etc.);

• Updating binders of proceedings and exhibits;

• Preparing books of authorities;

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Civil and Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant role;

• Ability to manage multiple priority files simultaneously while meeting deadlines;

• Mandatory bilingualism (spoken and written French and English);

• Strong prioritization skills and solid organizational abilities;

• Exemplary team spirit;

• Ability to work with individuals at all levels within a large law firm;

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;

• Solid experience with the Microsoft Office Suite;
