Vortex Strategy & Recruitment is actively seeking a Civil and Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant for its client, a national law firm based in downtown Montreal.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Editing and formatting documents;
Transcribing documents from tapes, handwritten notes, and telephone messages;
Comparing documents using Workshare;
Editing and formatting basic procedures and standard memos;
Communicating with bailiffs regarding service, filings, deadlines, etc.;
Communicating with court reporters to book their services;
Communicating with the court to obtain various information required for files;
Keeping various calendars up to date: court calendar, electronic calendar, and tracking deadlines to ensure timely filings;
Calculating deadlines;
Updating files and finalizing procedures (endorsements, copies, exhibits, etc.);
Updating binders of proceedings and exhibits;
Preparing books of authorities;
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a Civil and Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant role;
Ability to manage multiple priority files simultaneously while meeting deadlines;
Mandatory bilingualism (spoken and written French and English);
Strong prioritization skills and solid organizational abilities;
Exemplary team spirit;
Ability to work with individuals at all levels within a large law firm;
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Solid experience with the Microsoft Office Suite;
