Our Chalk River location is looking for a Manager, Monitoring Programs & Risk Assessment to oversee environmental, effluent, and groundwater monitoring programs and environmental risk assessment activities. What will you be doing!

Overseeing the effective management of effluent, environmental and groundwater monitoring programs and environmental risk assessments. Prioritizing assignments and deliverables to manage and maintain effective progress. Working on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends. Overseeing the maintenance and operation of the Environmental Data Management System, the company-wide repository for environmental data. Anticipating and interpreting client needs to identify solutions and respond decisively and quickly to emerging opportunities or risks. Developing Human Resources strategies for branch succession planning. Frequently interacting with functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions, units, customers and the company. Supervising and developing staff, ensuring that the required resources are available to meet the branch’s objectives, and ensuring appropriate training and succession planning within the branch to maintain capability. Other duties as assigned by your manager. What We Are Looking For

Education

Environmental Science degree at the bachelor level as a minimum, M.Sc preferred, from an accredited university. Experience

A minimum of two (2) years in a significant and relevant leadership role. Experience gained through leading multidisciplinary teams in a scientific and/or nuclear environment in the areas of environmental and effluent monitoring and project impact assessment reviews. Ten (10) or more years of experience in technical projects, compliance and interaction with the regulators is required. Experience managing staffing functions at the branch level, including hiring, training, and succession planning, with mature leadership competencies in the organization and administration of a team with diverse subject matter expertise. Extensive experience with interpretation and application of regulatory requirements. Experienced in interactions with regulators on environmental matters, including audits and inspections, and management of corrective actions. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers, internal and external clients. Effective written and oral communication skills and strong meeting management skills. Ability to predict issues and potential risk of non-compliance before they arise, while communicating and implementing mitigation plans that lead to resolution. In-depth knowledge and experience with the CSA N288 suite of environmental standards for nuclear facilities, including N288.1 derived release limits, N288.4 environmental monitoring programs, N288.5 effluent monitoring programs, N288.6 environmental risk assessments, N288.7 groundwater protection and monitoring programs, and 288.8 action levels for effluent monitoring programs. A deep understanding of relevant provincial, federal, and international standards and guidance as they pertain to environmental and public safety Working Conditions

Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week. Visual concentration is required for reviewing reports, analyzing information, developing budgets, etc. Some travel may be required. Why CNL?
