Job ID 4314 - Temporary Assistant Manager - Facility Services
Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools provides service to 50 school communities, over 23,000 students and over 2,500 employees. The Facility Services Division invites applications for the leadership position of Temporary Assistant Manager with duties to commence August 31, 2026 (or on a mutually agreed upon date) until December 31, 2026 (with a potential for extension).
The primary function of the Temporary Assistant Manager � Facility Services, under the leadership of the Manager � Facility Services, is to provide leadership, supervision, and support to school-based caretaking teams while assisting principals in maintaining safe, clean, healthy, and welcoming learning environments. This position also serves as a developmental opportunity for individuals interested in advancing within Facility Services through exposure to facility planning, capital renewal, project management, and maintenance operations.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership, support, and supervision to school-based caretaking staff
- Supporting principals and caretaking teams in addressing facility and operational concerns
- Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of division cleaning standards and procedures
- Coordinating staff recruitment, training, orientation, mentoring, and professional development
- Promoting and maintaining safe work practices and Occupational Health and Safety compliance
- Assisting with employee performance management and employee support initiatives
- Monitoring facility conditions and identifying opportunities for operational improvement
- Preparing reports and maintaining operational records as required
- Supporting operational budget planning, preventative maintenance initiatives, and departmental goals
- Working collaboratively with caretaking staff to achieve departmental objectives
- Providing backup support to the Facility Services leadership team as required
- Participating in job shadowing opportunities with Facility Services leadership staff, with a particular focus on facility planning, capital renewal, project management, and maintenance operations. Projects may include roof replacements, relocatable classroom construction and HVAC equipment replacements

- The ability to coach, mentor, and support staff in a positive and respectful manner
- Ability to manage tasks, processes, resources and information
- Demonstrated ability to develop presentations, compile reports and liaise with external partners
- Experience in budget development and management for areas of responsibility
- Experience initiating and leading facility infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of custodial operations, facility maintenance and projects, and workplace safety practices
- A commitment to teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
In addition, preference will be given to candidates with:
- Certificate, diploma, or degree in Facilities Management, Building Operations, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Business Administration, Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate, Human Resource Management or a related field
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Valid Saskatchewan Driver's License
- Minimum five (5) years of related experience in facilities, maintenance, custodial operations, construction, or a related field
- Previous supervisory experience would be considered an asset
- Experience promoting and achieving a Representative Work Force
- Knowledge of the Saskatchewan education and construction industry
