The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario invites applications for 1 (one) geographic full-time position in the Special appointment category, for an academic General Obstetrician/Gynecologist with appropriate experience. The successful candidate will join the staff at McMaster University Medical Centre. The current complement of generalists at McMaster University Medical Centre offers care in Obstetrics and Gynecology for the City of Hamilton and the Ontario Health West Region (Waterloo Wellington, Hamilton, Niagara, Haldimand and Brant) covering an area that supports up to 30,000 deliveries per year.

The successful academic generalist OB/GYN will have training and experience in obstetrics and gynecology. Special consideration will be given to candidates with additional postgraduate training beyond a residency program, such as fellowship, masters, or other advanced degree . Special consideration will also be given to those with a focus in supporting vulnerable populations.

The successful candidate is expected to have experience and commitment to teaching all levels of learners, including medical students, residents and clinical fellows and will provide leadership and training to future physicians. The candidate will be expected to fully participate in all the appropriate departmental and divisional administrative and educational activities. Candidates must have demonstrated capability and interest in clinical research and show evidence of a history of research productivity to align with the departmental academic mission and vision.

This is a full-time faculty position in the Special appointment category, for a period of three years (renewable). Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary is composed of, largely, fee-for-service activities.
