Senior Power System Study Engineer

with a focus in EMT Studies, in its Renewables & Power Grids service area. Our team provides creative, cost effective and practical solutions to stakeholders in the power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The Senior Engineer must demonstrate vision and drive and be passionate about contributing to the growth of the Power Systems Advisory business in North America. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in delivering technical insights and delighting customers with excellent customer service. This role ideally will be based at our DNV office in Toronto (ON) or Montreal (QB), presenting a dynamic hybrid schedule where employees will typically spend three (3) days per week working from either a DNV office or client location/site. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process. The position may also be considered at other DNV offices within Canada. What You’ll Do Perform Electro-magnetic Transient (EMT) Studies such as sub synchronous resonance (SSR), control interaction (SSCI), ferro-resonance, temporary overvoltage (TOV), switching overvoltage (SOV), transient recovery voltage (TRV), harmonic, energization etc. Develop/tune PSCAD models, perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking analysis Produce and/or review quality technical reports and presentations for external Customers and for both internal and external stakeholders Timely completion of projects assigned while meeting project quality and project budget Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in EMT and special studies Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for area related to transmission grid reliability Develop or modify automation scripts to enhance the efficiency, speed and accuracy of technical simulations Actively attend (in person or remote) industry stakeholder meetings Stay up to date with assigned market changes in terms of NERC, FERC planning procedures, policy changes and developments Contribute to the team’s research and innovation activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the team’s performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements Cultivate new customer relationships, and assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP) and provide Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for new tenders/bids/opportunities Le groupe consultatif des systèmes électriques de DNV Energy Systems offre une opportunité passionnante pour un

Ce que tu vas faire Réaliser des études sur les transitoires électromagnétiques (EMT) telles que la résonance sous-synchrone (SSR), l'interaction de contrôle (SSCI), la ferro-résonance, la surtension temporaire (TOV), la surtension de commutation (SOV), la tension de récupération transitoire (TRV), l'harmonique, l'énergisation, etc. Développer/ajuster des modèles PSCAD, effectuer une analyse comparative des modèles PSCAD/PSSE Produire et/ou examiner des rapports techniques de qualité et des présentations pour les clients externes ainsi que pour les parties prenantes internes et externes Réalisation rapide des projets assignés tout en respectant la qualité et le budget du projet Servir comme expert en la matière (SME) en EMT et en études spécialisées Servir en tant qu'expert en la matière (SME) pour le domaine lié à la fiabilité du réseau de transport Développer ou modifier des scripts d'automatisation pour améliorer l'efficacité, la rapidité et la précision des simulations techniques Assistez activement aux réunions des parties prenantes du secteur (en présentiel ou à distance) Restez informé des évolutions du marché assigné en termes de procédures de planification NERC, FERC, évolutions de politique et évolutions Contribuer aux activités de recherche et d'innovation de l'équipe en termes de développement de nouvelles techniques et/ou d'outils analytiques pour améliorer la performance de l'équipe en termes d'efficacité et/ou d'amélioration des capacités Cultiver de nouvelles relations clients, aider à préparer les réponses aux demandes de propositions (RFP) et fournir une déclaration de qualifications (SOQ) pour les nouveaux appels d'offres/opportunités
