This role is ideal for a technically curious and adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and can confidently support critical enterprise systems. The successful candidate will have strong database expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while collaborating with teams across the organization.

As a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, Database, you will be responsible for supporting, optimizing, and enhancing enterprise database solutions that underpin critical business applications. You will work across a broad technology landscape spanning legacy, on-premises, and cloud-based platforms, contribute to project delivery, and provide leadership through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.

What You Will Do

  • Build strong partnerships with application teams, project stakeholders, and technology partners to deliver reliable and effective database solutions.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and support database environments while ensuring performance, availability, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Perform database administration activities including performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, data remediation, and production support.
  • Collaborate with project teams to support new initiatives, application enhancements, and database-related implementations.
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of logical and physical data models that align with business and technology requirements.
  • Build and maintain database objects including tables, indexes, storage structures, and related components.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and best practices to support operational effectiveness and knowledge sharing.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical leadership to team members while promoting continuous learning and development.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting critical production systems and helping to resolve incidents in a timely manner.
  • Work across a diverse technology landscape that includes mainframe, distributed, and cloud-based database platforms.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance database reliability, efficiency, and overall service delivery.

What You Will Bring

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Programmer Analyst, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise database environments, application development, database administration, or database engineering functions.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more database technologies including MongoDB Atlas, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Oracle Exadata, DB2 LUW, and DB2 z/OS.
  • Strong understanding of database design, administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and support best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and drive results.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while supporting critical production systems and responding to operational incidents.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams across the enterprise.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • A proactive approach to mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • A high degree of accountability, sound judgment, and willingness to seek assistance or elevate issues when appropriate.
  • Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: London, Toronto, or Winnipeg, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office attendance Tuesday through Thursday.
  • Reliability Status Security Clearance – this can only be completed with candidates who receive an offer of employment.
