Job description

Based in CANADA or US, with preference for Houston, Texas. Fantastic opportunity for an experienced and well-rounded US immigration professional who wants to work for a complex publicly listed company with operations in 12+ countries. This stable and successful company provides a robust total compensation package including a very competitive vacation program and excellent benefits.

Who- the Company:

Our client is a high profile and reputable global public company. The corporate office is fast-paced, and the company has a corporate culture which emphasizes learning & development, collaboration, teamwork, and high performance. The people at this company are very dedicated to their work and also know how to have fun. This company truly values their employees and provides great perks that promote a healthy work life.

What- the Role:

The new Consultant, US Immigration will play a critical role in conducting research, reviewing, enhancing and implementing global policies and processes related to global mobility. This includes a primary focus on immigration support, as well as supporting business travel and the cross-regional deployment of the company’s resources, relocation, taxation, and associated reporting and compliance.

The new Consultant will provide expert advice on Immigration matters with a primary focus on US Immigration. As a key extension of the Global Mobility team, the Consultant will manage relationships and ensure the accurate flow of information to global mobility service providers and key internal stakeholders. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders will be essential in successfully implementing global mobility support across all areas of the business and for relocating employees, while effectively managing costs and cash flow. The Consultant will also support the planning, budgeting, and establishment of all assignments and any ad-hoc projects that may come up for the Global Mobility team.

The successful candidate may be required to occasionally adjust working hours to accommodate global time zones and should expect some International travel (only a couple times per year).

This is a great role for someone who wants to get a holistic view of immigration & global mobility within a very high-performance and high-touch HR team of a successful and complex company!

Who- the Candidate:

  • Strong knowledge of US immigration, with knowledge of and expatriate policy and administration
  • Working knowledge of global immigration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive and relevant experience
  • Experience advising on immigration matters and staying current with legislative changes across jurisdictions.
  • Ability to collaborate and manage multiple projects with global and regional teams.
  • Knowledge of taxation and employment legislation.
  • Understanding of business fundamentals with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to influence and engage others.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and in a globally matrixed team environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across different levels and geographies.
  • Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a high attention to detail and a proactive, self-directed approach.

Where:

Houston, Texas is the preferred home-base as in that scenario the Consultant can build in-person relationships with colleagues and leaders in the corporate office (hybrid schedule). The company is also open to hiring elsewhere in the Texas area, or possibly elsewhere in Canada or the US, but there will be a preference for folks living in Houston area or open to relocating there in future.

How Much:

Robust base salary commensurate with relevant work experience, qualifications, education, and skills, likely in the range of $100,000 to $120,000 USD.

This company provides an excellent total compensation package including a very generous amount of paid time off, a bonus plan, excellent health benefits, etc.
