Operations Supervisor - Northwest Ontario

Role: The Operations Supervisor holds a pivotal role in supporting the success of our organization by effectively mobilizing and closely monitoring front line operations team members through effective people management and operational efficiency strategies. This entails ensuring the seamless, safe, and punctual delivery of customer orders, while upholding a commitment to maintain accurate inventory records and comprehensive reporting systems. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Operations Management: Develop and adjust delivery schedules based on equipment availability, driver capacity, and customer priorities. Ensure driver compliance with Hours of Service and TDG regulations. Review actual vs budget expenses, identify variances, savings opportunities, and approve expenses within the set finance guidelines. Increase productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction through process improvements. Propose operational priorities and execute site-specific initiatives. Implement fuel management practices and promote safe, fuel-efficient driving behaviours. Manage bulk plant and card lock operations and foster strong relationships with depots. Fleet and Building Maintenance: Coordinate the preventative, planned, and unplanned building, office, and warehouse maintenance repair. Schedule fleet maintenance with partnered garages. Manage unplanned breakdowns through collaboration with drivers and Operations Coordinators. Material and Inventory Management: Oversee warehouse operations, manage regular inventory counts and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. Investigate and consolidate inventory discrepancies. Organize and manage physical warehouse using Lean and 5S principles. People Management: Ensure a safe workplace by leading safety meetings, mitigating risks, and ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations. Proactively identify hazards and implement preventive measures to maintain a safe working environment. Ensure team members maintain valid certificates, licenses, and regulatory compliance. Lead by example and assistance during peak periods as needed. Delegate workloads and establish accountability across the team. Lead all aspects of team member performance management, new hire onboarding schedule and foster an environment of continuous improvement. Communicate and track measurable performance standards. Promote a two-way communication by leading team and/or individual meetings. Complete weekly schedule, approve timesheets and authorize vacations to ensure accurate backup. WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU? In-person/ onsite position only; no possibility of working from home or hybrid. - Typical schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, on-call during weekends or for emergencies. - Travel requirements: Travel regularly to the Longlac location to provide operational support, conduct driver ride-alongs, coach team members, and ensure consistent standards across sites. - Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. College degree in supply chain and/or operations management or equivalent preferred. - License and Certification: Valid Class AZ license and clean driver’s abstract required. - Physical Requirements: Must have the physical capabilities and strength for lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Requires endurance to remain standing and walking for extended periods. - Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations and/or logistics, with at least 3 years of supervision experience. - Technology: Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) platform, more specifically Business Central, and electronic logging devices, preferred. - Additional abilities: Clear communicator, both verbal and written. Knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and OHS Act.
