AtkinsRéalis Environment has one of the most experienced environmental and geosciences engineering consulting teams in Canada and is currently seekingtwoIntermediate Environmental ScientiststojoinourCalgary ABteam.

The successful candidate(s)willbe responsible fora combination of field and office-based tasks ranging from theexecution ofPhase I and II Environmental Site Assessments including groundwater monitoring and samplingandremedial excavationsreclamation related taskstosubcontractor supervisionand coordinationfinancialtrackingandreport preparationpendingyears ofexperience.

Location - Calgary AB.

Your role

• Execution of environmental siteassessments including tasks such as groundwater monitoring and sampling hydraulic conductivity testing soilvapoursampling supervision of drilling activities and soil sampling installation of groundwater monitoring wells and supervision of remedial excavations.
• Supervision and mentorship of junior professional staff involved in carrying out field programs ensuring project requirements arecommunicatedand health and safety protocols are adhered to.
• Supporting project managersto setandmaintainproject schedules and budgets including project financial forecasting; makes decisions with respect to overall technical execution of the project; liaise with technical specialists or other senior project managers to ensure the technical integrity of the project.
• Assistingincommunicating planning activities and results of site assessment to stakeholders such as clients property owners responsibleparty regulators etc.
• Participation in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates.
• Preparation ofsite assessment report(s)andfacilitatingdata interpretationto meet regulatoryand other requirementsidentifyingpotential risk and scope of further action byappropriate stakeholders if necessary.

About you

• Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline such as Engineering Geology Agrology Biology Chemistry Geography Geoscience Environmental Science or a related field. Eligibility for professional designation is considered an asset.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience encompassing project execution contractor supervision and project coordination.
• Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) including groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques various drilling techniques soil sample collection and logging soil vapour sampling remedial excavations spill response and quality assurance/quality control protocols.
• Willing to undertake year-round field work and travel throughout Western Canada at times for extended periods (weeks).
• Ability to understand and appropriately apply safety procedures and technical field protocols.
• Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full drivers license with a clean driving record.
