Our client is seeking a thoughtful and capable Senior Engineer to join its Saskatoon team. This is an opportunity to step into a technically meaningful role with a respected Saskatchewan engineering firm, contribute to practical solutions, support project delivery, and provide guidance to junior and intermediate technical professionals. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering judgment, a collaborative approach, and the ability to balance technical quality with client and project needs.

Company Overview

Kova Engineering (Saskatchewan) Ltd. is a Saskatchewan-based engineering and technical services organization supporting operational and project-based environments across the province. The organization is known for practical engineering solutions, technical accountability, collaboration, and responsive client service. Kova has identified a need for a Senior Engineer to be based in the Saskatoon, SK office, supporting a range of engineering assignments and helping strengthen technical leadership across project teams.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Services Manager, this role is responsible for preparing engineering calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and other technical deliverables in accordance with company standards and professional engineering practices. The successful candidate will take ownership of assigned projects from concept through completion, providing technical oversight, reviewing and approving engineering work, and ensuring the quality and integrity of project deliverables. This individual will also provide professional guidance and mentorship to Junior and Intermediate Engineers and Drafting Technologists, supporting their ongoing technical development.

What You’ll Do

  • Review engineering documents, drawings, calculations, and technical deliverables to ensure they meet project scope, applicable codes, standards, regulations, and company requirements.
  • Perform, analyze, interpret, and verify manual calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) models.
  • Prepare, review, and sign off on engineering procedures, reports, confirmed drawings, calculations, and FEA models.
  • Formulate and document repair recommendations, including design sketches developed in the field.
  • Witness and document on-site testing and support field-based engineering activities as required.
  • Work with the Project Delivery team to define and control project scope, schedule, budget, technical questions, comments, and issues.
  • Provide final approval on project documentation and support the quality and integrity of technical deliverables.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers and drafting technologists.
  • Demonstrate leadership in promoting safe work practices and a strong safety culture across project teams.

What You’ll Bring

  • Ideally 5-10+ years of progressive engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering or project-based environment.
  • Strong preference for structural engineering experience, including the design, analysis, assessment, or rehabilitation of reinforced concrete and steel structures within industrial, commercial, or infrastructure environments; other relevant engineering disciplines and experience will be considered.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, technical drawings, specifications, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound engineering judgment, manage assignments independently with appropriate supervision, and provide technical guidance to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Experience supporting engineering projects through various phases, including client communication, scheduling, budgeting, and project delivery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency using Microsoft Office and FEA software.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with the ability to travel to project sites as required.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, civil, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for registration with APEGS if currently registered outside of Saskatchewan.
  • APEGS Permission to Consult would be considered an asset.

Key Attributes for Success

  • Personal Accountability: Takes ownership of work, follows through on commitments, and demonstrates integrity in technical and professional responsibilities.
  • Sound Judgment: Applies critical thinking and practical engineering judgment to make timely, well-informed decisions.
  • Coaching & Mentorship: Supports the development of junior and intermediate engineers through knowledge sharing, constructive feedback, and technical guidance.
  • Technical Leadership: Brings technical credibility, supports engineering standards, and provides guidance on complex project challenges.
  • Client Focus: Builds trusted relationships by understanding client needs and delivering practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Communicates technical information clearly and works effectively with clients, colleagues, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Opportunity Highlights

This opportunity offers the chance to join a respected Saskatchewan engineering consulting firm with a diverse portfolio of clients and technically engaging projects. As a Senior Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise across varied assignments, contribute to practical, high-quality engineering solutions, and provide mentorship and technical leadership within a collaborative project environment.
