Job description

The Opportunity

At South Bow, we do one thing, and we do it well: safely moving oil between some of the world's most critical markets. We're building our high-performing team with versatile thinkers who thrive on solving big challenges together. If you're ready for a position where your skills are highly valued and your work is incredibly important, we want to meet you. Bring your talents to a new streamlined energy company, dedicated to operational, commercial and safety excellence as we pursue our critical purpose of delivering the energy people need.

We are seeking an experienced Pipe Integrity Engineer who has knowledge and experience in pipeline integrity management, engineering assessment, and risk-based decision making for South Bow's pipeline assets. This individual has the proven technical skills, engineering judgment, and capacity to support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of South Bow's pipeline system through integrity threat assessment, mitigation planning, technical analysis, and continuous improvement of integrity programs.

What you'll do

  • Lead pipeline integrity assessments, engineering evaluations, and technical reviews to identify, assess, and mitigate integrity threats.
  • Analyze inspection, operating, corrosion, geotechnical, and maintenance data to support sound engineering decisions and risk-based recommendations.
  • Develop and execute preventative and mitigative integrity plans that support safe, reliable, and compliant pipeline operations.
  • Provide technical support for integrity-related field activities, including inspections, investigations, digs, repairs, and site assessments.
  • Support fitness-for-service evaluations, repair recommendations, and engineering documentation related to pipeline integrity concerns.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Regulatory, and Engineering teams to resolve integrity issues and support asset reliability.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering standards, procedures, technical guidance, and integrity management practices.
  • Support regulatory compliance by preparing technical documentation, responding to information requests, and participating in audits or reviews.
  • Monitor integrity program performance and identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and risk reduction strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, technologists, contractors, and other internal stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Civil, Chemical, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5 or more years of progressive engineering experience in pipeline integrity, pipeline engineering, asset integrity management, corrosion engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline integrity management principles, engineering assessment methods, and risk-based decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of applicable Canadian pipeline codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting technical data such as inline inspection, non-destructive examination, excavation findings, corrosion monitoring, or operational data.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting integrity management programs for liquids pipelines.
  • Experience with corrosion, cracking, deformation, geohazard, third-party damage, or other pipeline integrity threat management programs.
  • Experience preparing engineering assessments, technical reports, regulatory documentation, and repair recommendations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Energy Regulator requirements and industry best practices related to pipeline integrity.
  • Experience using integrity management systems, data analysis tools, or risk assessment software.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or mentorship to junior technical staff.

This position requires candidates to:

  • Travel to other company locations, field sites, and project locations for meetings, inspections, investigations, or training.
  • Provide support for integrity-related operational issues or emergency response activities, as required.
