Job Summary

Job Summary:

CSA Group has an immediate opportunity for a Project Manager in the Alternative Energy Vehicles Program. In this challenging and rewarding role, you will interact with leading experts within the transportation technology and low carbon fuel sectors to facilitate discussions amongst key interest groups and develop leading edge solutions to help drive forward our mission. CSA Group standards are developed by volunteer members through an accredited process. The standards are used by a broad base of interest groups to help enhance safety, security and sustainability for people and business. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of codes and standards development projects with a specific focus on the program’s electrical vehicle, connected and automated vehicle, and intelligent transportation initiatives. The candidate may also support other areas of the program including natural gas and hydrogen vehicles.

  • Overseeing all aspects of assigned projects within the program area. The role emphasizes management, leadership and soft skills, however requires the ability to speak to complex subjects as a credible professional.
  • Establishing timelines for project activities, determining project resource requirements (e.g. funding, personnel support), and assembling overall project schedules.
  • Utilizing strong business acumen and planning skills to determine and manage the resources (time, budget, quality, etc.) required to complete the project.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key interest groups (academia, regulators, industry, etc.).
  • Promoting and improving committee efficiency, evaluating member performance and taking action as required.
  • The management of standards development activities in existing areas, as well as conducting business development initiatives to expand the portfolio into new areas of the Program.
  • Consulting with clients and other areas of CSA Group’s business to support development of standards and impact of standards.
  • Liaising with clients, management, Legal and Finance to compose proposals, contracts, and financial analysis for new projects.
  • Bachelor’s or technical degree in related area. Advanced degree is highly desirable.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Standards Development and/or Project Management.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the alternative energy, electric vehicles (EV) and intelligent transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards industry, regulatory environment, government policy, industry landscape, and funding programs/models is an asset.
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or multi-interest groups would be an asset
  • Experience in writing and presenting business and project proposals.
  • Excellent Project Management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong ability to network, manage relationships, identify opportunities, and win new business.
  • Creative, participative and flexible approach to managing work assignments.
  • Strong leadership, decision making and negotiation skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation, resilience, adaptability and flexibility.
  • Developed computer skills (word processing, presentation software, project planning software, spreadsheet etc.).
  • Highly developed oral, facilitation and communication skills.
  • Applicants with proficiency in French will be given special consideration.

Responsabilités

  • En tant que chef de projet, le candidat retenu sera chargé de:
  • Superviser tous les aspects des projets assignés dans le domaine du programme. Le poste met l'accent sur la gestion, le leadership et les compétences relationnelles, mais exige également la capacité d'aborder des sujets complexes en tant que professionnel crédible.
  • Établir des calendriers pour les activités du projet, déterminer les ressources nécessaires au projet (par exemple, financement, soutien en personnel) et établir les calendriers globaux du projet.
  • Utiliser un sens aigu des affaires et des compétences en matière de planification pour déterminer et gérer les ressources (temps, budget, qualité, etc.) nécessaires à la réalisation du projet.
  • Développer et entretenir des relations avec les principaux groupes d'intérêt (milieu universitaire, organismes de réglementation, industrie, etc.).
  • Promouvoir et améliorer l'efficacité du comité, évaluer les performances des membres et prendre les mesures nécessaires.
  • Gérer les activités d'élaboration de normes dans les domaines existants et mener des initiatives de développement commercial afin d'étendre le portefeuille à de nouveaux domaines du programme.
  • Consulter les clients et d'autres secteurs d'activité du Groupe CSA afin de soutenir l'élaboration de normes et d'évaluer leur impact.
  • Assurer la liaison avec les clients, la direction, les services juridiques et financiers afin de rédiger des propositions, des contrats et des analyses financières pour de nouveaux projets.

Formation

  • Baccalauréat ou diplôme technique dans un domaine connexe. Un diplôme d'études supérieures est fortement souhaitable.
  • Le titre de professionnel certifié en gestion de projet (PMP) est un atout.

Expérience

  • 3 à 5 ans d'expérience dans l'élaboration de normes et/ou la gestion de projets.
  • Au moins 3 ans d'expérience dans le secteur des énergies alternatives, des véhicules électriques (VE) et des transports intelligents.
  • La connaissance des normes pertinentes du secteur, de l'environnement réglementaire, des politiques gouvernementales, du paysage industriel et des programmes/modèles de financement est un atout.
  • Une expérience de travail avec des bénévoles et/ou des groupes d'intérêts multiples serait un atout.
  • Expérience dans la rédaction et la présentation de propositions commerciales et de projets.

  • Excellentes compétences en communication orale, en animation et en communication.
