Reporting to the VP Commercial, Major Projects, the Superintendent – Supply Chain, Major Projects is responsible for leading and managing the full Supply Chain Management function for the Capital Projects team, supporting the Stage 1A and Stage EP2 expansion projects at Blackwater.

Acting as the Supply Chain lead for these projects, this role is accountable for the entire procurement and contracting lifecycle, including category management, strategic sourcing, market engagement, tendering, commercial evaluations, procurement execution, contract negotiations, contract administration, and supplier relationship management.

The Superintendent will provide leadership, guidance, and direction to Supply Chain team members while ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services required for project delivery. The role is responsible for developing procurement strategies; preparing and issuing Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and Invitations to Tender (ITTs); soliciting and evaluating bids; leading commercial and contractual negotiations; recommending awards; and executing and administering contracts through to completion.

The successful candidate will possess a strong blend of procurement, commercial, and contract management expertise, with the ability to independently lead complex sourcing initiatives and negotiate commercial agreements that deliver value, manage risk, and support project objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership by promoting, supporting, and enforcing BW Gold’s safety standards, procedures, and management systems.
  • Lead the Supply Chain Management function for Major Projects, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services required for project execution.
  • Develop and implement project procurement and contracting strategies that support schedule, cost, quality, and risk management objectives.
  • Lead the full sourcing and contracting lifecycle, including market engagement, tendering, bid evaluation, commercial analysis, negotiation, contract award, and contract administration.
  • Develop, prepare, and issue Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotation (RFQs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), and Invitations to Tender (ITTs).
  • Lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and service providers to secure the best overall value for the business.
  • Establish and manage project procurement plans, ensuring alignment with project schedules, budgets, and operational requirements.
  • Manage supplier relationships and maintain regular engagement with key supplier and contractor stakeholders.
  • Support user departments in defining scope requirements, evaluating bids, preparing award recommendations, and issuing award and regret letters.
  • Administer competitive tendering processes, develop bidder lists, respond to vendor inquiries, and ensure governance and compliance requirements are met.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, supply chain, and contractual risks throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to Supply Chain team members and project stakeholders.
  • Support employee development initiatives and maintain appropriate records and documentation.
  • Prepare procurement and contracting reports, forecasts, and recommendations for project and executive leadership.
  • Develop and implement initiatives focused on work simplification, supply chain optimization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor supplier and contractor performance and resolve commercial, contractual, and performance-related issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Finance, Law, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SCMP designation, enrollment in the SCMP program, or equivalent procurement and contract management certification preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressively responsible experience in supply chain, procurement, sourcing, contracts, or commercial management roles.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience supporting major capital projects in the mining, energy, industrial, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading both procurement activities and contract negotiations through the full project lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and contract administration.
  • Extensive experience negotiating complex commercial agreements, construction contracts, service agreements, and purchase orders.
  • Strong understanding of commercial risk management and contract terms and conditions.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute procurement and contracting strategies that improve value, reduce risk, and support project objectives.
  • Experience leading competitive tendering processes and evaluating commercial and technical proposals.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate total cost of ownership and commercial risk.
  • Experience working with EPCM, EPC, construction, and major project contracting environments is considered a strong asset.
  • Advanced communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills with the ability to work effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent commercial, procurement, contract management, and negotiation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of construction contracting, service agreements, and materials procurement for major capital projects.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of mining, construction, and industrial supplier markets in British Columbia and Western Canada.
  • Ability to independently lead complex sourcing and contract negotiations from strategy through execution.
  • Strong understanding of commercial risk identification and mitigation.
  • Excellent written communication skills, particularly in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contractual documents.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight schedules and changing project demands.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop team members.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Sound financial and commercial acumen, including pricing analysis, cost evaluation, and budgeting principles.
  • Proficiency procurement, contract management, and Microsoft Office systems. Pronto experience is a plus.
