SIRIUS INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROLS INC.

For a complete position description, please visit: Director, ERP - ProFound Talent

THE ORGANIZATION

Sirius Instrumentation and Controls is a rapidly growing, private equity-backed manufacturer of chemical injection systems, instrumentation, and engineered production solutions serving the upstream oil and gas industry. Following its acquisition by a private equity partner in December 2024, the organization has embarked on an ambitious growth strategy with a targeted revenue expansion of approximately three times current levels in advance of a planned 2030 exit.

Operating through Sirius Instrumentation and Controls Inc. in Edmonton, Alberta and Sirius Controls Inc. in Midland, Texas, the organization is investing heavily in its leadership team, operational infrastructure, and technology platform to support this next phase of growth. Recent investments across Finance, Operations and Human Resources are positioning the business to scale efficiently while maintaining operational excellence.

One of the most significant strategic initiatives currently underway is the implementation of a modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform across both Canadian and U.S. operations. Transitioning from QuickBooks to an integrated ERP environment will fundamentally transform how the organization manages financial reporting, manufacturing, inventory, purchasing, operations, engineering and supply chain activities.

To support this business-critical initiative, Sirius is seeking an experienced Director, ERP Implementation to lead the successful planning, execution and delivery of this transformational project.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the CEO through the Executive ERP Steering Committee, the Director, ERP Implementation will lead one of the organization's highest-profile strategic initiatives.

This is far more than a technology implementation; it is a business transformation mandate. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a fully integrated ERP solution across both Canadian and U.S. operations while ensuring timelines, budgets, vendors and cross-functional workstreams remain aligned toward a successful go-live.

The Director owns end-to-end delivery of the QuickBooks-to-ERP migration including the integrated project plan, the timeline, the budget, the system integrator relationship, and the accountability chain across finance, operations, engineering, supply chain, and IT workstreams. It is a delivery-assurance and project management mandate with accounting policy decisions remaining with the Corporate Controller, and finance-side configuration is owned by the in-house ERP Analyst. Ultimately, the Director is the individual responsible for ensuring the ERP implementation stays on track, coordinating internal teams and external partners to successfully deliver the project from planning through go-live and hypercare (post-launch stabilization).

Designed as a fixed-term leadership assignment extending through implementation, go-live and post-launch stabilization, this role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to lead a highly visible, career-defining ERP transformation that will leave a lasting impact on the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:

  • Lead the end-to-end ERP implementation across Canadian and U.S. operations from planning through hypercare.
  • Develop and manage the integrated master project plan, ensuring milestone adherence and overall project success.
  • Maintain ownership of project governance, timelines, deliverables, and overall implementation accountability.
  • Ensure critical path activities remain on schedule while proactively identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Lead relationships with ERP implementation partners and third-party vendors.
  • Manage Statements of Work, project scope, deliverables, milestones and change orders.
  • Hold implementation partners accountable for quality, schedule and contractual commitments.
  • Review deliverables and approve milestone-based payments.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Chair the cross-functional ERP project team across Finance, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain and IT.
  • Coordinate internal resource planning and executive alignment across multiple departments.
  • Foster collaboration while removing obstacles impacting project delivery.
  • Ensure alignment between Canadian and U.S. operating entities.

PROJECT GOVERNANCE & EXECUTIVE REPORTING

  • Develop governance structures, project dashboards and executive reporting.
  • Prepare monthly Steering Committee presentations outlining project status, risks, budget, issues and key decisions.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership while escalating issues requiring timely resolution.
  • Maintain comprehensive RAID logs with named owners driven to closure.

BUDGET, RISK & DELIVERY MANAGEMENT

  • Monitor implementation budget, forecast remaining spend and manage overall project financial performance including monthly burn vs. approved budget with forecast-to-complete.
  • Identify implementation risks early and develop practical mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure disciplined project controls throughout the implementation lifecycle.
  • Maintain accountability for successful project execution through implementation completion.

DATA MIGRATION, TESTING & GO-LIVE

  • Oversee data migration planning and execution.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management and testing governance.
  • Lead cutover planning, go-live readiness assessments and implementation execution.
  • Direct post-go-live stabilization activities and transition ownership to internal business teams.

ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Coordinate organizational readiness activities throughout implementation.
  • Develop training strategies and establish super-user networks across the organization.
  • Promote user adoption while ensuring long-term sustainability of the ERP solution.
  • Support business leaders through organizational change and process transformation.

THE INDIVIDUAL

Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent project management designation is considered a strong asset.
  • ERP implementation certifications would be advantageous.

EXPERIENCE

Must-have:

  • Two or more full-lifecycle ERP implementations (selection through go-live and hypercare) in a leadership or PM capacity with mid-market manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated timeline delivery: can point to implementations that went live on or near plan and explain the ones that did not.
  • System integrator management experience having held vendors to scope and pushed back on change orders.
  • Structured PM discipline (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent rigor demonstrated in practice).
  • Executive-level communication having reported to steering committees, boards, or PE sponsors.
  • Comfortable operating in a low-systems-maturity environment (QuickBooks, manual processes, compensating controls).

Nice-to-have:

  • Oil and gas or industrial manufacturing sector exposure; make-to-order / job costing environments.
  • PE-backed company experience understanding sponsor reporting cadence and exit-readiness framing.
  • IFRS reporting environment familiarity.
  • Experience with Epicor Kinetic and/or IFS Global in a manufacturing context.

COMPENSATION

An excellent compensation package awaits the successful candidate.

LOCATION

Edmonton, Alberta.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based primarily on-site in Edmonton, Alberta, with regular collaboration across the Canadian and U.S. operations.

TRAVEL

Periodic travel to Midland, Texas may be required throughout the implementation lifecycle. Possible international travel to Oman.
