Analyst, Business Systems Reconciliation (6 Months Term)

The opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Analyst, Business Systems Reconciliation, the Analyst, Business Systems Reconciliation supports the financial reconciliations between internal systems and with external custodians, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and maintaining data consistency to support accurate reporting and business operations. The Analyst ensures requests are completed in alignment with service standards while contributing to quality control, automation initiatives, and departmental projects that enhance overall system performance, data reliability, and reconciliation effectiveness.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Financial Reconciliation Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations between internal business systems and external custodians to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data. Investigate, analyze, and resolve reconciliation breaks, discrepancies, and exceptions in a timely manner. Monitor and validate cash, holdings, transactions, and account balances across multiple platforms. Escalate material discrepancies, potential losses, or systemic issues and support their resolution with internal and external stakeholders. Maintain comprehensive documentation of reconciliation procedures, exceptions, and resolutions
  • Reconciliation Controls & Data Integrity Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial and client data through robust reconciliation and validation controls. Identify root causes of recurring reconciliation issues and recommend corrective actions. Support the development and maintenance of reconciliation controls, procedures, and operating standards. Produce and distribute reconciliation reports, exception reporting, and management metrics. Ensure all reconciliation activities comply with established policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Systems & Process Optimization Support the enhancement of reconciliation processes, workflows, and supporting systems. Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify system gaps, data issues, and process improvements. Participate in system testing and implementation activities to ensure reconciliation and reporting requirements are met. Recommend and support automation opportunities to improve reconciliation efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Risk Management Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to financial data, reconciliations, and system interfaces. Monitor system-to-system data flows to ensure data consistency and timely issue resolution. Support internal and external audit requests by providing reconciliation documentation and evidentiary support. Contribute to the development and execution of remediation plans arising from audit findings or control deficiencies.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Technology or a related field.
  • 2-3 years’ financial services industry experience working in a high growth environment.
  • 2+ years’ experience in vendor and custodian management.
  • 2+ years’ experience in a customer/client-service facing role.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in the wealth management or other regulated industry is a strong asset.
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency with expertise in handling large data sets and performing complex comparisons for analysis and insight.
  • Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals.

  • Exceptional problem-solving with strong analytical thinking and initiative.

  • An ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
