A recovery-oriented system of care is a coordinated network of personalized, community-based services for people at risk of or experiencing addiction and mental health challenges. It provides access to a full continuum of services and supports, from prevention and intervention to treatment and recovery. The vision is for every Albertan to have the opportunity to pursue recovery and live a healthy and productive life. The Ministry also liaises with the Office of the Alberta Health Advocates and Recovery Alberta. Role Responsibilities


Are you a strategic leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys driving organizational excellence, emergency preparedness, and corporate service delivery? Join the Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction and play a pivotal role in supporting critical operations, legislative compliance, and cross-government initiatives.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Support, the Manager, Corporate Services directs and oversees corporate processes that support the ministry in achieving its business objectives. The position provides leadership in emergency management, business continuity planning, occupational health and safety, facilities management, and corporate initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:



  • Providing leadership and operational direction for business continuity, consequence management, workplace health and safety, and emergency planning activities.

  • Ensuring compliance with the Emergency Management Act, Government Emergency Management Regulation, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Coordinating emergency response planning, facilities support, and departmental readiness activities, including maintaining emergency response plans and supporting emergency operations when required.

  • Leading projects and initiatives that support ministry priorities, operational requirements, and cross-government commitments.

  • Preparing high-quality briefing materials, reports, presentations, correspondence, and recommendations for senior leadership and executive decision makers.

  • Representing the ministry on committees, working groups, and collaborative initiatives across government.

  • Coordinating accommodation planning, facilities management activities, safety and security requirements, and operational projects.

  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with ministry staff, government partners, and external stakeholders to support organizational effectiveness and service delivery.

  • Supervising staff, managing workloads, supporting employee development, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture.

  • Provide on-site support and coordination for departmental facilities, emergency management activities, accommodation planning, and operational initiatives, which may require occasional travel to worksites throughout Alberta.


A university degree in Public Administration, Business, Emergency Management, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field is required and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience related to the role; or equivalent as described below.


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:



  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience;

  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Related Experience:



  • Leading emergency management, business continuity, occupational health and safety, or organizational preparedness initiatives.

  • Managing complex projects, operational programs, and corporate service functions in a dynamic environment.

  • Building strong partnerships and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives.

  • Providing strategic analysis, recommendations, and executive-level briefings to support organizational decision-making.


Assets:



  • Certification or designation in Emergency Management, Business Continuity, Occupational Health and Safety, Facilities Management, or Business Administration.

  • Experience working within government or other large, complex public-sector organizations.

  • Experience leading workplace accommodation, facilities planning, or operational modernization initiatives.

  • Formal training or certification in project management, change management, or continuous improvement methodologies.


Notes


Hours of Work:



  • 36.25 hours per week (Full-time)

  • 8:15am - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

  • Location: 10155 102 St NW, Edmonton AB T5J 4L5.

  • This position requires the successful candidate to be available for call-back after hours, on weekends, and on holidays as needed to respond to emergencies and operational disruptions.

  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License is required, as the role involves occasional travel to worksites across the province.


Final candidates will be required to undergo a criminal records check (CRC).
Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.
