About this position:

We're looking for a curious, motivated Software Development Co-op student to join the Later Influence engineering team. This is an opportunity to work alongside experienced developers building software that powers influencer marketing for some of the world's leading brands and creators. As a member of the team, you'll contribute to real production software, participate in the full software development lifecycle, and gain hands‑on experience with modern engineering practices. You'll be supported by experienced mentors while taking ownership of real production work that delivers value to our customers.

If you're passionate about software development, enjoy solving problems, and are eager to learn how high‑performing development teams operate, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:

  • Contribute to production features across our backend and frontend applications.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product owners, designers, and other cross‑functional partners to deliver customer value.
  • Write clean, maintainable, tested, and well‑documented code.
  • Participate in code reviews and learn engineering best practices.
  • Debug issues and help improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems.
  • Learn modern software architecture, cloud technologies, and scalable application design.
  • Leverage AI‑assisted development tools and modern engineering practices to build high‑quality software efficiently.
  • Take part in planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
  • Continuously learn from teammates while bringing your own ideas, curiosity, and creativity to the team.

What you bring:

  • A strong foundation in software engineering fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development.
  • Some exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), whether through coursework, personal projects, or internships.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks such as React is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • A genuine curiosity about how software systems work and a desire to continuously learn.
  • A growth mindset and eagerness to receive feedback and continuously improve.

Bonus Points

Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:

  • TypeScript or Node.js
  • React
  • PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • REST APIs
  • Docker or Kubernetes
  • AWS services
  • Automated testing
  • Open‑source contributions or personal software projects

What You’ll Learn:

During your co‑op, you'll gain practical experience in:

  • Building software that serves customers at scale.
  • Modern backend and frontend development.
  • Software architecture and distributed systems.
  • Production debugging, monitoring, and observability.
  • Agile software development and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Code reviews, testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Leveraging AI‑assisted development tools effectively in a professional engineering environment.
  • Working effectively as part of a high‑performing engineering team.

How you work:

  • Driven by Impact: You deliver results that matter—prioritizing high‑value work, meeting deadlines, and adapting quickly while keeping outcomes clear.
  • Strategic & Customer‑Centric: You anticipate risks and opportunities, connect decisions to long‑term growth, and build trust through proactive insights.
  • Curious & Growth‑Oriented: You seek knowledge, ask sharp questions, and apply learnings fast—challenging the status quo with a mindset of improvement.
  • Collaborative & Resilient: You thrive in change by staying resourceful, solution‑focused, and positive—removing roadblocks, sharing insights, and keeping morale high.

  • Emotionally Intelligent: You build trust through empathy and collaboration, foster inclusion, and inspire others with grit, optimism, and integrity.

Our approach to compensation:

We take a market‑based & data‑driven approach to compensation. We leverage data from trusted third‑party compensation sources to help us understand the market value of a role based on function, level, geographic location, and scope. We evaluate compensation bi‑annually, including performance and market‑related factors.

Our salaries are benchmarked against market Total Cash Compensation for the geographic location of our job posting. Compensation for some roles is structured as On Target Earnings (OTE = base + commission/variable) while for others it is structured as Salary only.

To comply with local legislation and ensure transparency, we share salary ranges on all job postings. Skills, experience and other factors help determine the final salary we offer which may vary from the original range posted.

Additionally, all permanent team members are eligible to participate in various benefits plans as part of their overall compensation package.

Salary Range:

*Co‑op team members, independent contractors, and freelancers are not eligible for company benefits.

We have offices in Boston, MA; Vancouver, BC; and Vancouver, WA. For select positions, we are open to hiring fully remote candidates. We post our positions in the location(s) where we are open to having the successful candidate be located.

Diversity, inclusion, and accessibility:

At Later, we are committed to fostering a culture rooted in an inclusion‑first mindset at every level of the company, embracing the importance of hiring and building teams for culture add rather than culture fit. We openly build and maintain unbiased hiring, pay, and promotion practices to create a foundation for an equitable workplace, paving the way for systemic change.

We are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All applications will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, national origin, disability, or age. Please let us know if you require any accommodations or support during the recruitment process.

Voluntary Self-Identification

For government reporting purposes, we ask candidates to respond to the below self‑identification survey. Completion of the form is entirely voluntary. Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

As set forth in Later’s Equal Employment Opportunity policy, we do not discriminate on the basis of any protected group status under any applicable law.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service‑connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three‑year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

How do you know if you have a disability?

A disability is a condition that substantially limits one or more of your “major life activities.” If you have or have ever had such a condition, you are a person with a disability. Disabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Alcohol or other substance use disorder (not currently using drugs illegally)

  • Blind or low vision
