The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has a broad mandate and is committed to maintaining and improving New Brunswicks public infrastructure. The Department of Transportation and Infrastructures mission is to contribute to New Brunswicks economy and quality of life by providing and supporting sustainable infrastructure that allows for the safe and efficient movement of people goods and government services to the public. Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18000 kilometers of provincial highways it also manages the planning design and construction of hospitals schools and other government buildings.

The Radio Communications Branch is responsible for the provision of Radio Communications and other advanced technological services for all government departments and agencies. The Branch provides contract management of the New Brunswick Trunked Mobile Radio (NBTMR) system the provinces P25 Digital Public Safety Grade Radio System. The NBTMR provides mission critical services to various Provincial Federal and Municipal stakeholders.

What you will do

Reporting to the Assistant Director/Manager of Corporate Services the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • managing all aspects of the provincial radio fleet including inventory control asset tracking configuration management programming documentation and maintenance coordination;

  • developing maintaining and auditing radio programming and configuration records to ensure compliance with established standards and interoperability requirements;

  • building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders across federal provincial municipal and external organizations;

  • forecasting equipment requirements managing inventory levels and coordinating the distribution of radio assets to support operational requirements;

  • analyzing network and subscriber performance data preparing reports and providing recommendations related to fleet development network enhancements and budget planning;

  • collaborating with departmental radio coordinators and service providers to maintain accurate fleet information and ensure the security accountability and effective management of radio assets;

  • responding to hardware and software service requests and coordinating solutions with clients and service providers;

  • meeting with clients to assess current asset status identify future operational requirements and risks and support planning activities;

  • maintaining client portfolios records and reports ensuring information is accurate organized and current;

  • supporting team objectives and contributing to operational projects and initiatives as required.

Work environment:

  • Office location: FrederictonArea.

  • Standard hours of work: Monday Friday.

  • Operational requirements may also require working on weekends and/or variable hours.

  • Frequent travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a bachelors degree in Business Administration Public Administration Information Management Information Technology Telecommunications Engineering Technology or a related field.

  • A minimum of one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in asset management inventory management project coordination telecommunications information management client services or a related operational environment.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid Class 5 drivers license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

  • You will be required to undergo a Criminal Background Check.

An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

  • experience maintaining records inventories databases or asset management systems;

  • experience preparing reports analyzing information and making recommendations to support operational decision-making.

SALARY:

Pay Band 3: $2067.00 to $2889.00 bi-weekly based on 36.25 hours per week.
