Role Overview

The Marketing Lead supports Venture for Canada's marketing team by conducting research, analyzing market trends and audience insights, and transforming those findings into actionable marketing strategies and high-quality content. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities, making recommendations, and creating compelling marketing assets - including articles, social media content, presentations, campaign materials, website copy, email content, and other communications - that support recruitment, engagement, partnerships, and thought leadership across Venture for Canada’s programs and initiatives. The ideal candidate is analytical, curious, highly creative, and able to turn research and ideas into content that informs, inspires, and drives action.

Key Role Responsibilities

Content Strategy & Development

  • Develop compelling, high-quality content that supports Venture for Canada's brand, programs, partnerships, and thought leadership initiatives

  • Create content across multiple formats, including:

    • Thought leadership articles

    • Social media content

    • Website copy

    • Email campaigns and newsletters

    • Presentations and executive summaries

    • Marketing collateral and campaign assets

  • Translate research, market trends, and audience insights into engaging content that educates, informs, and inspires action

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders to simplify complex topics into clear, audience-focused communications

  • Ensure all content aligns with Venture for Canada’s brand voice, messaging framework, and strategic priorities

Research & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct research on competitors, programs, events, policies, and initiatives relevant to Venture for Canada

  • Monitor trends across entrepreneurship, workforce development, AI, Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition (ETA), youth employment, and related sectors

  • Conduct audience research to better understand motivations, behaviours, barriers, and engagement opportunities

  • Support positioning, messaging, campaign development, and go-to-market planning through research and market insights

  • Identify emerging opportunities, risks, and trends that may influence Venture for Canada’s marketing strategy and organizational priorities

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Translate research and insights into actionable marketing strategies and campaign recommendations

  • Support the planning and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital, social, email, website, events, and partnerships

  • Develop campaign briefs, messaging frameworks, and marketing plans for new initiatives

  • Identify opportunities to improve recruitment, engagement, partnerships, and brand awareness

  • Collaborate across teams to bring marketing initiatives from concept through execution

Marketing Analytics & Optimization

  • Track and analyze marketing performance across channels including Google Analytics, HubSpot, LinkedIn, Meta, email marketing platforms, CRM systems, and other marketing technologies

  • Develop regular dashboards and executive reports highlighting performance, trends, and recommendations

  • Analyze campaign performance, audience engagement, conversion rates, and user behaviour

  • Measure marketing initiatives against organizational objectives and recommend optimizations

  • Support a culture of continuous improvement through data-informed decision making

Additional Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, and analyze surveys

  • Support conferences, sponsorships, events, webinars, and community-building initiatives

  • Analyze CRM and audience data to improve segmentation, personalization, and targeting strategies

  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate research, content creation, ideation, and workflow efficiency while maintaining strong editorial judgment and critical thinking

  • Stay informed on emerging trends in marketing, AI, communications, and entrepreneurship, proactively sharing opportunities with the team

Who You Are

  • Curious by nature. You enjoy researching new topics, understanding how things work, and connecting information from multiple sources

  • Proactive. When you identify a problem or opportunity, your instinct is to explore solutions and bring forward recommendations

  • Analytical. You enjoy working with data, trends, research, and insights to support decision-making

  • Creative thinker. You can look beyond the obvious and identify new opportunities, approaches, or ideas

  • Resourceful. You are comfortable finding information, learning new tools, and figuring things out independently

  • Organized and accountable. You can manage multiple priorities and take ownership of your work from start to finish

  • Collaborative. You enjoy supporting others and helping teams make informed decisions

  • Growth-oriented. You are constantly looking for ways to improve, learn, and develop new skills

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of hands-on marketing experience, with demonstrated experience developing strategies, managing campaigns, creating content, and using data to improve audience engagement and impact

  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and content creation skills, with experience developing articles, social media content, email campaigns, presentations, website copy, and other marketing assets

  • Strong research and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and actionable recommendations

  • Experience developing integrated marketing campaigns from concept to execution

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Experience analyzing marketing performance and using data to optimize campaigns

  • Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities

  • Comfortable leveraging AI tools to accelerate research, content creation, and marketing workflows while applying sound judgment

  • Experience using Canva (or similar) to create professional marketing assets and presentations

  • Highly curious, proactive, and self-motivated, with a passion for learning, identifying opportunities, and turning ideas into action

  • Familiarity with HubSpot, Google Analytics, Google Workspace, WordPress, Slack, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Analytics, and other marketing technologies

Most importantly, you're someone who tends to ask: "How could we do this?” rather than "When is someone else going to do it?" You are energized by solving problems, exploring opportunities, and helping turn ideas into action.
