Assistant Ag Site Manager, Saskatoon (Ref#: M20) Saskatoon Co-op

Reporting to the Sales & Ag Manager, responsibilities for the position include the following:

Operational Management

Provides day-to-day leadership for the Hwy 16 Ag site, ensuring operations are efficient, safe, customer-focused, and aligned with Saskatoon Co-op standards, policies, procedures, and business objectives.

• Execute the site-level plan, meet operational targets, and consistently apply approved procedures, best practices, policies, and the collective bargaining agreement where applicable.

• Oversee ordering, receiving, claims processing, deliveries, inventory management, bookings, invoices, expenses, budgets, and related administrative requirements.

• Maintain site standards for image, merchandising, asset protection, preventative maintenance, equipment upkeep, and program execution.

• Schedule employees to meet business needs, manage exceptions and time-off requests, and ensure team members are trained to deliver a brand-aligned customer experience.

• Identify operational gaps, implement corrective actions, support procurement, and collaborate with the Sales & Ag Manager on continuous improvement.

Talent Management & Team Leadership

Leads the Hwy 16 Ag team by building capability, supporting engagement, and creating a safe, positive, and accountable work environment.

• Lead team members within Saskatoon Co-op policies, guidelines, and the collective bargaining agreement where applicable.

• Support full-cycle talent management, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, mentoring, development planning, and employee engagement.

• Set clear performance expectations and provide regular communication so team members understand their role and contribution to Saskatoon Co-op’s success.

• Ensure team members receive appropriate training and have the resources needed to follow programs, guidelines, safety standards, and procedures.

• Promote a safe work environment and address team needs or performance concerns in a timely and constructive manner.

Financial Management

Supports the financial performance of the site by managing budgets, monitoring results, maintaining accurate records, and taking action to support profitability.

• Lead and develop the site-level budget in collaboration with the Sales & Ag Manager.

• Review financial reporting, provide variance explanations within required timelines, and implement adjustments to support profitability.

• Oversee site-level audits, inventory counts, markdown schedules, sales tracking, targets, and related financial controls.

• Manage back-office cash processes and support maintenance of POS systems and pin pads.

• Update costs and pricing information to support accurate data, cost control, and margin performance.

• Complete daily site recaps and work with the administration and credit teams to resolve overages, shortages, producer setup, and credit policy alignment.

Customer Experience

Supports sales growth and customer engagement by executing local marketing, promoting Ag Division programs, and ensuring the Co-op brand is consistently reflected at the site.

• Provide input into the division’s marketing plan and execute site-level and local marketing activities as directed by the Sales & Ag Manager.

• Ensure point-of-sale materials, signage, promotions, and displays are aligned with organizational, divisional, and program requirements.

• Communicate campaigns and expected behaviors to team members so they can support desired outcomes.

• Contact customers using a variety of methods to generate leads, create sales, and connect customers with Ag Division partners based on their needs.

• Use Tronia CRM to maintain detailed customer contact records and produce reports that support Ag Division growth.

• Promote company products and services that help customers optimize agricultural output.

• Exemplify the Co-op brand personality and ensure team members follow brand standards and Ag Division programs.

Reporting

Uses site-level data and reporting tools to monitor performance, identify trends, and support informed decision-making.

• Track and compile relevant data, including sales, employee sales hours, CASM execution, shrink, inventory, margin, productivity, and product performance.

• Use analytics tools and other tracking methods to measure results against targets.

• Work with the Sales & Ag Manager to review insights, identify opportunities, and implement corrective actions.

Safety & Compliance

Maintains a safe, compliant work environment by applying Saskatoon Co-op safety policies, regulatory requirements, and corrective action processes.

• Ensure compliance with Saskatoon Co-op safety policies, procedures, and relevant industry requirements.

• Report workplace accidents and near misses as required and support related investigations.

• Support investigations related to asset protection or other operational matters as needed.

• Ensure required certifications are current for equipment and product handling.

• Implement corrective actions to help prevent future safety events and maintain a safe environment for employees and customers.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 education required. Degree or Diploma in Agriculture or Agribusiness with CCA or is preferred.

• 5+ Years in the agriculture sector or relevant area, with proven sales and leadership skills.

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. Site Dispenser License required.
