At Orano Canada, you are part of the global clean energy transition. Our uranium fuels safe, low‑carbon nuclear power, supporting climate goals with a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and community. Working at Orano means you’ll be doing work that matters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical and instrumentation leadership for engineering modifications and change controls of the SABRE mining system, including managing the Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure modifications, upgrades, and replacements are documented, risk‑assessed, approved, and coordinated with Engineering & Projects prior to implementation.
  • Develop, supervise, and review the Electrical Engineering Control Plan (EECP) to align with statutory mining regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate electrical engineering documentation, including plant schematics, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), PLC logic, design criteria, technical specifications, and as‑built drawings.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, planning, maintenance, and other teams to implement electrical changes with minimal impact on production.
  • Participate in technical bid evaluations for new electrical equipment, oversee vendor changes, and manage project budgets and scope variations.
  • Conduct hazard analyses (e.g., FMEA) to assess risks associated with changes and new technologies.
  • Develop safe, constructable, reliable, maintainable, and fit‑for‑purpose designs for existing and new uranium mining facilities.
  • Support large multidisciplinary projects from concept to design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Communicate project and design risks related to safety, cost, and schedule to leadership.
  • Provide technical guidance on electrical design, systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Identify areas for improvement, enhancements, or optimizations of existing electrical equipment to improve safety or cost.
  • Monitor industry regulations and standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Maintain OCI specifications and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, consultants, and contractors supporting project delivery.
  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned and comply with all Orano health, safety, and environmental policies, practices, and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with APEGS.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical system design, construction, commissioning, and/or analysis.
  • Experience with instrumentation and control systems is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with engineering industrial projects.
  • Expert knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, including the Use of Electricity in Mines.
  • Expert understanding of power distribution and protective devices.
  • Working knowledge of electrical modeling software ETAP is an asset.
  • Ability to innovate in system efficiency, capital, and operating cost optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lead and interact in a team environment, as well as work independently.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to project changes flexibly and independently.
  • Co‑ordinate activities, information, materials, or resources within own area of responsibility to meet deadlines.

Work Location & Travel

  • Saskatoon Corporate Office.
  • Travel to Orano northern mine sites required with varying durations and frequencies based on needs.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Training and development opportunities.
  • Fitness equipment available for use on work/camp premises.
  • Career advancement opportunities, social committee, interesting projects, and involvement in community commitments.

Salary: $118,350 – $139,200 (compensation to be determined based on selected candidate’s level of skill, education, and experience, and may vary within the posted salary range).
