This is an opportunity to join one of Canadas premier heavy civil contractors on a landmark infrastructure project in British Columbia.
We are seeking an experienced Project Director with a proven background leading large-scale heavy civil construction projects including complex concrete structures transportation infrastructure transit bridges marine works and major civil infrastructure assignments.
This role is ideal for a senior construction leader who thrives in technically demanding environments and has successfully managed large project teams complex stakeholder relationships and major infrastructure operations from pre-construction through project completion.
The position is based on a rotational out-of-town schedule of 14 days on / 7 days off and offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role on one of the regions most significant heavy civil projects.

The Role
As the Project Director you will provide overall leadership and strategic direction for a major heavy civil infrastructure project overseeing all aspects of project execution including operations commercial performance scheduling safety staffing client relations and project delivery.
You will lead multidisciplinary project teams while working closely with executive leadership clients consultants and key stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the project.
This role requires strong operational leadership commercial acumen and deep experience managing technically complex infrastructure projects within demanding construction environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide executive-level leadership for a major heavy civil infrastructure project
- Oversee all project operations including construction commercial management scheduling procurement and staffing
- Lead Project Managers Superintendents engineers and project support teams
- Ensure projects are delivered safely on schedule within budget and in accordance with contractual obligations
- Drive project strategy execution planning and operational performance
- Manage client relationships stakeholder coordination and executive reporting
- Oversee risk management change management forecasting and cost control activities
- Support project staffing mentorship and team development initiatives
- Collaborate closely with senior operations and executive leadership teams
- Monitor overall project productivity quality and financial performance
- Ensure compliance with project specifications safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Lead high-level planning problem-solving and decision-making activities throughout the project lifecycle
Who You Are
- 15 years of leadership experience within heavy civil or infrastructure construction
- Proven experience leading large-scale infrastructure projects valued in the hundreds of millions
- Strong background in:
- Structural concrete
- Heavy civil infrastructure
- Bridges and transportation projects
- Transit infrastructure
- Marine or major public infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated success managing large project teams and complex field operations
- Strong commercial contractual and operational management experience
- Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within highly technical and schedule-driven project environments
- Strong understanding of construction risk management scheduling and project controls
- Engineering Construction Management or related technical background is considered an asset
- Ability to work rotational schedules and travel for project assignments

Required Skills:
SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with Estimating in project pursuits including risk management sub contract buy outs and proposals as needed Prepare and manage sub contractor contracts and hold backs for project milestones Monitor project status reports for performance in safety cost forecasting and scheduling Manage the financial performance of the projects including approval of change orders Managing project team client representative consultant and trade contractor relationships. Monitoring progress of the design including compliance issues quality general coordination constructability and timing of deliverables. Thorough communication of potential opportunities and challenges and managing clients expectations through regular communication. QUALIFICATIONS: Post secondary education or training in engineering construction management or a related discipline. 10 years heavy civil construction experience with at least 3 years in a Project Management role Experience in estimating civil and infrastructure projects preferred Experience managing heavy civil projects such as bridges underground infrastructure excavations and/or road construction Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health safety and environment principles and -depth knowledge of the construction industry including building materials construction specifications methods and procedures construction law and building codes and safety and quality management practices. Strong planning organizational and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients consultants and sub-contractors Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and project management and scheduling software
