Job Description

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Department Manager to lead and grow our Electrical Engineering team in the Kitchener/London region. This is a visible leadership role for a licensed electrical engineer who wants to build a stronger team, guide high-quality delivery, and shape the next stage of AECOM's electrical practice in Southwestern Ontario. This position is to fill an existing position within the team.

The successful candidate will bring technical credibility, people leadership, client focus, and practice-building experience. You will lead multidisciplinary electrical delivery across buildings and infrastructure markets while connecting with AECOM’s broader national and global technical network.

Why AECOM?

  • Deliver Meaningful Work: Contribute to complex building and infrastructure projects that support communities across Canada and beyond.
  • Shape and Grow a Practice: Lead the continued development of the London/Kitchener Electrical Engineering team and expand its regional impact.
  • Accelerate Your Career: Access leadership pathways, technical networks, mentorship, and opportunities across one of the world’s largest engineering and infrastructure firms.
  • Work with Industry Leaders: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and specialists across Canada and internationally.
  • Flexible & Supportive Environment: Benefit from a collaborative workplace, hybrid work flexibility, competitive compensation, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Global Impact: Connect with AECOM’s national and global teams to support complex, high-profile, and future-focused infrastructure solutions.

Once You Are Here:

Your role will combine people leadership, technical oversight, client engagement, and practice growth. You will:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop electrical engineers, designers, and technical staff while fostering a positive, accountable, and growth-oriented team culture.
  • Set direction for staffing, workload planning, technical capability, quality, and succession readiness.
  • Serve as a senior technical leader on selected projects, providing design guidance, engineering judgment, quality review, and practical problem-solving.
  • Guide electrical design delivery across multiple sectors, including buildings, institutions, commercial and industrial facilities, water and wastewater, transportation, sustainability, and related infrastructure markets.
  • Oversee electrical systems design, including medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, life safety, communications, controls, and related building and infrastructure systems.
  • Represent Kitchener/London within the national electrical practice, collaborating with other office electrical managers to build an integrated national practice.
  • Build trusted client relationships, support proposals and pursuits, and help grow the regional electrical practice.
  • Strengthen project outcomes through clear scope definition, resource planning, technical coordination, schedule awareness, quality management, and early risk identification.
  • Champion sustainable, energy-efficient, innovative, and future-ready design solutions.
  • Represent AECOM with professionalism and confidence in front of clients, internal leaders, project teams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers, designers, and technical staff.
  • Holding or the ability to obtain minimum Reliability Level security clearance.

Preferred Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of technical depth, leadership presence, client service, and practice-building experience. Preferred qualifications include:
