OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Executive Director the Director of Engagementfacilitates inter-departmental child youth and family-centered serviceresponse. The Director of Engagement creates and implements strategies thatengage children youth and families in building upon their strengths skillsand confidence to fulfill our responsibilities in the community.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee and or Supervise the Memengwaa YouthTransitional Housing and Outreach Program and the Wellness Team.

Participate in monthly meetings with the RunningWhite Wolves Youth Council.

Work in collaboration with stakeholders to meet theneeds of youth in the program and the organization.

Liaise with the organization Directors andSupervisors to facilitate meaningful engagement of children youth and familieswith services built to support them.

Work closely with Program Supervisors to engage inprogram planning.

Co-organize regularly occurring community outreachto build positive and respectful relationships with children youth andfamilies who are supported by the organization.

Liaise with the organization Directors andSupervisors to create opportunities in the workplace and communityorganizations for the development of skill experience and confidence.

Provide leadership and modelling to staff onpositive youth engagement with a focus on relational practice; maintainingsupportive relationships with children youth and families.

Compile program information and data into regularreports for the Board of Directors.

Coach the Memengwaa and Wellness teams on reportingand stats to meet various program reporting requirements.

Evaluate data current practices and outcomes andincorporate best practices into service delivery approach.

Create update and/or adapt program policies andprocedures.

Assess and adapt program and service deliverymodels on an ongoing basis to ensure supports are provided in our Anishinaabeways.

Participate in various community initiatives witha focus on improving the experiences of First Nations children youth andfamilies.

Support the program supervisor or other teammembers when needed to deal with crises emergencies or to solve problems asrequired.

Oversee special projects as required.

Must be willing to travel to the 8 Southeastcommunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSW and/or relevant personal and professional experience in the sector.
  • Minimum three (3) years supervisory experience.
  • Experience developing and evaluating social service programs.
  • Knowledge of the Child and Family Services (CFS) sector legislation and experiences of Indigenous youth aging out of care.
  • Knowledge of systems such as CLDS EIA EI & others including relevant legislation policies and practices that impact Indigenous youth from care.
  • Extensive knowledge of community resources.
  • Ability to work with addictions mental illness and trauma from a strengths-based perspective.
  • ASIST NVCI First Aid CPR and other related training courses considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and/or understanding of First Nations perspectives culture and traditional philosophies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high attention to detail; Ability to prioritize tasks and create work plans.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office word processing (MS Word) Spreadsheets (Excel) E-mail (Outlook) and Internet.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak Anishinaabe an asset.
  • Must be available evenings and weekends as required.
  • Must have a valid class 5 drivers license and access to a vehicle.
  • Must have Clear Criminal Record (vulnerable Sector Check) Child and Adult Abuse Registry Check and Prior Contact Check and acceptable Drivers Abstract are a condition of employment.
