Job description

Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position: S2627-29 Casual Early Childhood Assistant and EducatorsWe are seeking Casual Early Childhood Assistant and Early Childhood Educators for the 2026-2027 school year. These casual positions include assisting in implementing the effective day to day operations of the program, ensuring appropriate supervision, smooth transitions, and consistent routines. Preference will be given to applicants who have: Level 1, 2 or 3 Early Child Care Certificate First Aid CertificationKnowledge and experience working in an early childhood or school-aged care settingEffective interpersonal and relationship building skillsExtensive understanding of child development theories and best practicesWorking knowledge of Alberta Childcare Licensing RegulationsFamiliarity with NLPS program philosophies, policies, and operational proceduresStrong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilitiesThe Role the Early Childhood Assistant or Educator may include:Upholding the program's philosophy, policies, and procedures in all daily practicesDeveloping and implementing a high-quality, developmentally appropriate program for children and students to ensure smooth and consistent routinesMaintaining confidentiality in all matters involving children, students, families and staffSupporting the development and implementation of a developmentally appropriate program for young children and studentsEnsuring all children and students are supervised at all times and accounted for during transitions and activitiesThose not certified or those with similar education, we provide direction for those interested in registering for their Level 1 orientation course or assist with applying for reassessment of their current education.
