Job description

HR, payroll, and workforce data are becoming more connected to the financial decisions businesses make every day, from labor costs and payroll accuracy to compliance, headcount planning, and business forecasting. For many mid-market organizations, these workflows remain manual, disconnected, and difficult to reconcile across HR and Finance. Sage HCM connects HR, payroll, workforce data, and financial management through Sage Intacct, creating a strong opportunity to define a clear value proposition in a crowded HCM and payroll market.

AI agents are a key part of Sage’s innovation in this space. Sage HCM launched with the HCM Agent, focused on HR and payroll workflows such as payroll preparation, validation, reconciliation, and surfacing potential compliance risks. This reflects Sage’s broader “glass box” approach to AI, designed to make recommendations transparent, explainable, and auditable in workflows where trust, accuracy, and accountability matter.

As Senior Product Marketing Manager, HCM & Payroll, you will help turn Sage’s connected HCM, payroll, finance, and AI strategy into clear market value. Working closely with Product, Sales, Growth & Performance Marketing, Customer Success, and Partner teams, you will shape positioning, messaging, launches, sales enablement, customer migration and adoption programs, and growth initiatives across Sage’s North American HCM, payroll, and workforce management portfolio.

This is a high-impact role for a product marketer who can define a compelling value proposition, deeply understand customer pain points, and bring strong sales motion and revenue awareness to how messaging is built and used in the market. You should be able to simplify complex buyer and product nuance, translate customer needs, competitive insights, and product capabilities into clear messaging, and help customers and internal teams understand why Sage, why now, and why this solution.

Location Requirement:

Hybrid; 3 days per week from our either our Toronto or Vancouver office

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of product marketing experience in B2B SaaS, ideally positioning HCM or Payroll solutions.
  • Strong communication and storytelling capability with the ability to simplify complex concepts into clear customer value.
  • Commercially driven with a strong understanding of SaaS customer journeys, go-to-market strategy and growth dynamics.
  • Strong execution capability with a bias for action.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally across Product, Sales, Growth and Customer Success teams within a global matrixed organization.
  • Customer-focused mindset with interest in understanding market dynamics and customer needs.
  • AI-curious and open to embedding AI into day-to-day workflows and execution.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and balancing both strategic and operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Go-to-Market Execution: Lead and support go-to-market initiatives across Payroll, HR and Human Capital Management offerings in partnership with Product, Sales, Growth and Customer Success teams.
  • Regional Portfolio Support: Support the North American Human Resources & Payroll portfolio across the United States and Canada, helping drive customer adoption, retention, migration and growth initiatives.
  • Positioning & Messaging: Develop differentiated positioning, messaging and value propositions that clearly communicate customer value across multiple buyer audiences.
  • Product Launches: Support the planning and execution of product launches, feature releases and adoption initiatives across the Human Resources & Payroll portfolio.
  • Customer Migration Support: Contribute to migration initiatives by developing messaging, customer communications, enablement assets and adoption programs.
  • Product & Market Strategy Support: Partner with Product Management to bring customer, competitive and market insight into product planning discussions, helping ensure solutions continue to meet evolving customer and market needs.
  • Market & Competitive Intelligence: Conduct customer, market and competitor research to inform positioning, messaging and go-to-market activities.
  • Sales Enablement: Develop sales tools, presentations, battlecards, customer-facing assets and enablement materials that improve commercial effectiveness.
  • Customer Insight: Gather and synthesize customer feedback and market insights to support product marketing activities and help inform product direction.
  • Regional Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with regional Sales, Product, Growth, Customer Success and Partner stakeholders across North America to ensure alignment and successful execution.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Sales, Growth, Customer Success and Partner teams to drive alignment and successful execution in a global matrixed organization
  • AI-enabled Execution: Leverage AI tools and modern marketing workflows to improve speed, quality and scale of Product Marketing activities.
  • Thought Leadership: Support the creation of customer-facing content and market narratives that strengthen Sage’s presence within Human Resources & Payroll.

Benefits? We have plenty...

  • 100% paid premiums for health, dental, and vision coverage
  • RRSP contribution match (100% up to 4%)
  • 35 days paid time off (11 holidays, 16 vacation days, 3 personal days, 5 sick days)
  • Work Away, an opportunity to work & play for 10 weeks in a country of your choice (from a Sage-approved list)
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave for birth, adoption, or surrogacy offered 1 year after your start date
  • 5 days paid yearly to volunteer (through Sage Foundation)
  • $5,250 tuition reimbursement per calendar year starting 6 months after your hire date
  • Sage Wellness Rewards Program (annual fitness reimbursement)
  • Library of on-demand career development options and ongoing training offerings

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, education, and experience. Certain provinces in Canada require job postings to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range applicable to the role. For this role, in those locations, the target salary range for new hires is C$140,000 to C$170,000. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in a bonus plan (20%) based on company and individual performance. Our talent acquisition team will provide specific opportunities on our bonus or incentive programs. The range listed is just one component of the Sage total compensation package.
