Senior Fund Accountant & Investment Operations Associate

About the Opportunity:

Our client is a growing investment management firm based in downtown Vancouver, focused in managing alternative investment strategies across a diverse portfolio of private market investments, as the firm continues to expand, they are seeking a highly analytical and detail oriented Senior Fund Accountant to join their fiancé team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working beyond traditional fund accounting. The successful candidate will play a key role in fund administration, investor reporting, financial reporting and supportive investment operations while working closely with senior leadership and external service providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for investment funds and related entities.
• Maintain accurate fund accounting records, including capital activity, investment, valuations, income accruals, and expense allocations.
• Perform NAV calculations and reconcile investment portfolios, cash, and capital accounts.
• Coordinate year end audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual investor reporting packages and regulatory filings and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate capital calls, investor subscriptions, redemptions, and distributions.
• Maintain investor records and capital account statements.
• Respond to investor inquiries regarding reporting and fund activity.
• Support compliance with applicable securities regulations and internal policies.
• Maintain corporate records and fund governance documentation.
• Coordinate documentation related to fund structures and investment entities.
• Support settlement and administration of investment transactions.
• Maintain records for portfolio holdings, valuations, and cash movements.
• Assist with monitoring investment performance and portfolio reporting.
• Coordinate documentation relating to credit facilities, loans, bonds, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), and other structured investments.
• Work closely with investment professionals to ensure timely execution and documentation of transactions.
• Support operational improvements and implementation of investment systems and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
• CPA designation is considered an asset.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting, investment accounting, or private investment operations.
• Experience working with private investment funds, asset managers, family offices, or fund administrators.
• Strong understanding of investment fund structures including:
• Limited Partnerships
• Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs)
• Co-investment vehicles
• Experience with alternative investments and credit instruments, including:
• Private loans
• Bonds
• Collateralized Loan Obligations (CLOs)
• Payment-in-Kind (PIK) instruments
• Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with investment accounting or fund administration software is considered an asset.
