Mechanical Design Manager – Antec Controls

The Team

Antec Controls has a diverse engineering team which includes electrical, software and mechanical disciplines. Our team handles the development of high‑accuracy airflow devices, electronics and firmware for a range of control products. In addition, we design web‑based tools and custom software for our controllers. Our team is building a family of products that are high‑performing, intuitive, and designed with safety as the top priority. The Role

As our team continues to grow, we’re seeking a Mechanical Design Manager to lead our talented product development group and oversee our Design Department alongside our Embedded Design Manager. In this role, you will guide a team of 4‑5 mechanical product designers and collaborate closely with our customer‑facing and Operations teams to deliver impactful, high‑quality solutions.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical product designers.
• Guide the team through all stages of product development projects.
• Collaborate with customer‑facing team members to define, prioritize, and manage feature requirements.
• Work closely with Operations to ensure smooth transitions of design changes and product releases into production.
• Improve design and development processes by introducing tools and practices that enhance efficiency.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, design tools, and industry trends.
• Manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment, maintaining flexibility and focus.
• Prioritize initiatives and align the team’s work with the company’s strategic vision.
• Deliver high‑quality solutions on time and within budget.
• Recruit, train, and develop team members; conduct performance evaluations and manage compensation.
• Participate in departmental budget planning and report on key performance metrics.
• Ensure robust test coverage and mentor the team in design verification and validation practices.
• Oversee the management and upkeep of testing spaces and equipment.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

The Ideal Candidate For This Position Will Have

• A College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in a design or engineering role.
• Leadership skills with experience working on a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• A strong customer‑service mindset and commitment to excellence.
• High attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
• Business acumen and experience conducting product cost analyses.
• Strong critical‑thinking skills, accountability, and a bias toward action informed by data.
• The ability to identify and resolve root‑cause issues through simple, effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with active listening and clarity at all levels.
• The ability to:
  • Deliver timely, candid, and constructive feedback with positive intent.
  • Thrive in a no‑ego culture and willingly accept feedback.
  • Communicate with honesty and transparency to build trust and long‑term partnerships.
